Chapter 5 by Zebra Zebra

What's next?

The mystery deepens...

"My heart's still racing from that encounter, Beebe, but I promise, I'll do my best to help you uncover this hidden room," you respond, taking a deep breath to try and steady your nerves. Your adrenaline is still pumping, but the tantalizing prospect of a hidden room keeps you motivated.

You glance around the room once more before turning your attention back to Beebe. "Tell me everything you know about the rumors surrounding this hidden room. What have you heard from others, or seen that made you believe such a thing exists?"

As you ask the questions, you begin to mentally map out the layout of the manor in your head, trying to identify any patterns or discrepancies in the architecture that might provide a clue.

Beebe beams at your offer, clearly excited by your enthusiasm. "Well, I've heard whispers that there's an old secret passage hidden in the grand library. Some say it leads to a chamber filled with family heirlooms and treasures. But everyone who's tried to find it has failed."

Intrigued, you nod. "The library, huh? That makes sense, considering its size and the antiquated nature of the house itself. I must say, Beebe, I'm both nervous and excited to begin this search."

With a spirit now reinvigorated by the idea of an adventure, you and Beebe set off towards the grand library, ready to unravel the mysteries that lie hidden within the walls of the old manor. You can't shake off the ominous feeling of Bernhardt lurking somewhere in the shadows, but you refuse to let him dampen your spirit. After all, you've survived worse.

As you walk, you turn to Beebe and say, "Lead the way, my young friend. Together, we shall uncover the secrets that others have failed to find." And with that, a new journey begins for both of you, full of possibilities, danger, and discovery.

You make your way through the great old house, with the young new friend leading the way. Once in the grand library you are searching for a hidden passage when the tall ghoul butler confronts you. "I say! Just who in blazes are you? And how did you get in here?" You quickly explain about falling into a trap and then being hauled into the basement by Bernhardt. Who was looking to transform you into his… new wife by cutting your male genital off… the butler winced but nodded his head slowly. "Mr. Bellworth, I am not here to cause any trouble," you say carefully, holding up your hands in a sign of peaceful intent. "I'm actually here in search of a hidden room, rumored to be in this very library. My new friend, Beebe, mentioned it to me." You look around for your young friend, but he seems to have vanished…

Bellworth's ghoulish face registered shock and then clouds over, at the mention of your new young friend. "Beebe… that boy always had a habit of disappearing and resurfacing at the most unexpected times. On the day the great war occurred he vanished from this very house no one in the family has seen him since. None of us have seen or heard from him since." He looks at you intensely, his eyes filled with suspicion as you stand there looking confused.

Surprised by this information, you reply slowly, "I see… I wasn't aware of any of this, Bernhardt heard him and was frightened away. Beebe didn't mention it to me. Do you think there is any connection between his disappearance and the hidden room?"

"Bernhardt… hears a great many things these days… but they rarely frighten him. I can't say for certain," Bellworth admits a flicker of doubt in his eyes, while his ghoulish face looks deeply troubled. "But it's worth considering. Perhaps there's more to this hidden room than we initially thought."

Pondering this new information, you reconsider your mission. "Bellworth, I'd like to inquire about Beebe's disappearance more. I don't believe it's a mere coincidence."

Bellworth nods and stands straight, you can't help noticing the outline of a concealed handgun under his coat. "First you must speak with the master of the house... Mr. Henry Addison, follow me, sir…" He looks at you cautiously as you follow him out of the library, towards the sitting room where the master of the house sits. His ghastly demeanor sending a shiver down your spine, but the mystery of Beebe's disappearance consumes all your thoughts. The more new information you uncover, the deeper the rabbit hole goes, but you're determined to see it through until the end.

Master of the House...
