The monkey's paw
Based on the story of W. W. Jacobs, the monkey's paw is a stuffed hand of a monkey that can makes any wish true. But every wishes are either twisted into something you didn't want or have terrible side effects. To some it's a cursed object, to others, it's just a way to balance things with the laws of the universe.
Wishing on the monkey paw is a one way trip, things will never come back to normal, no matter how hard you try.
