The letter that changed my life

I'm so confused, "Did seriously nobody notice this letter inside this book before they saved it inside this basement?" I make sure that nobody comes down here in the basement as I continue reading this letter. The letter says:

"If you're reading this... that means I failed my mission to obtain power and also it means I'm dead. Hello brother, all these months I've been researching this mysterious power, it all came from a purple crystal shard, a small fragment that has some energy inside of its core.

But it isn't enough, I need the power of the source, and I know there's more to these crystals. I got the coordinates thanks to the energy guiding me here to a cave in the mountain near Wolfpine. Brother if you're reading this, please finish what I couldn't, if the knights or someone with political power finds out about this, they'll use this power to rule unopposed without anyone to stop them, I beg you and... I'm sorry.

Sincerely, Roy Faye."

As I finished reading the letter I was surprised to read Roy Faye, that's Rachel's uncle, he went missing a decade ago. I then begin to panic as I say to myself "What!? Was this directed to Rachel's father? Did he never see this letter?" I have a lot of questions but I know one thing, if he was this determined, maybe there's something in that cave. I want to tell someone but... If this is real, does that mean I could have that power to myself? I then just save the letter in my pocket and just continue to finish my work like nothing happened.

After I finished my shift at the library, I quickly went to the exit, but then I saw Rachel with a smile "Hey Nate! Do you wanna eat at Dragon's Loot? A friend told me that they're having a nice discount right now." As much as I wish I could go, I just answer "Sorry Rachel but I have to go now, maybe another time." I say as I run away. Rachel noticed I looked worried about something so she asked herself "What's up with him?"
