Have you ever wanted to explore the world? Maybe a change from the daily routine? Because I sure have.

My name is Nate Brooks, I'm 22 years old and I always wanted to explore, but the main issue is 2 things: 1) I'm lazy and 2) this world is dangerous as fuck. Gaia is a world where many heroes and villains fight while everyone tries to live their day-to-day lives. Even tho there are many different races in Gaia, barely see them in this town named Wolfpine, where most of the people here are humans, and I lived here with just my stepmother and sister after my father passed away. I didn't think I could explore the outside world till one day... I obtained the power of hypnosis.

It all started when I was doing some work at the town's library to earn some money. While I'm arranging some books, Rachel comes by and tells me "Hey idiot, how does it feel now that I'm your boss."

Rachel Faye is a red-haired woman, age 21, medium chest and she's my friend. We pretty much know each other for a couple of years by now, I always found her attractive but I can't afford a relationship right now, especially in this economy. Ironically, she's also the person who offered me this job since her family owns this library.

I then roll my eyes and tell Rachel "Shut up idiot, you're not my boss, your dad is." Rachel, then smugly grins and she tells me "I know, I know, I'm just messing with you," Rachel also asks "Do you like the job?"

I then answer her "Yeah... I mean I can't complain. I just wish I could be in the future like a brave hero or something like that." Rachel then chuckles a bit and tells me "Nate, you know I respect you as a friend... But you and I know that if you went into adventures you would die the first day, you don't have any combat experience and you know nothing about magic."

I then sarcastically tell Rachel "Ouch! My ego..." Rachel smirks and tells me "I'm just saying it for your own good," then Rachel turns around and tells me "Also Dad told me that after you finish arranging those books, he wants you to help with some stuff in the basement," she says while I watch her butt as she walks away.

So after finishing this, I go to the library's basement, where there are old ass documents and books, they're so old I can't even read some of them. Rachel's father wanted me to sweep the floor and clean the bookshelves.

But while I'm cleaning, I notice a weird purple book with a fancy golden cover, I move it out of the way to clean the dust beneath it but then I notice something weird in that book. It had a small letter in between the pages, so I picked it out of curiosity, not expecting much. That's till I read the first sentence of the letter, "If you're reading this... that means I failed my mission to obtain power and also it means I'm dead."
