The houses
After another speech, now made by a veteran, Deputy Director Ursula started speaking again.
"As you know, the houses you go to will not be chosen by you. The foundation of this institution believed in the power of destiny over our lives, so its paths are already outlined, it is up to you to follow it with cunning and wisdom. Our houses are:"
- House Regulos, The Braves: Represented on the banner as a golden griffin on a white background. The bad reputation of this house stems from the fact that these students are often arrogant, being the leading house of the academy, in addition to being rated as very straight and "well behaved". On the other hand, from here the best monitors and students of the most ideal leave, in addition to having exemplary etiquette modes. The students of Regulos house have as their main magical interests the disciplines of Protection, Banishing and Pyromancy. They claim to be the best duelists in the institution. It has rivalry with House Antares, as the two like to dispute social prestige, however, while the Regulos like to be known for their conduct and honor, the Antares boast other things, such as possessions, contacts or beauty. The totem of the house Régulos, the griffin, reminds them of their nobility and duty of leadership.
- House Antares, The Sagacious: Whose symbol on the banner is a crimson scorpion on a black background. Many do not welcome this house, because its members are seen as unscrupulous hedonists, but they are known as the most seductive in the academy. The Antares house is where the crafty, deceivers, smarties and spies seem to go. The magic fields in which they show more knowledge are in Illusion, Alchemy for poisons and are good at arguing and charm spells. It has rivalry with the house Regulos, they find them very ruled, boring and arrogant. The totem pole of this house, the scorpion reminds them of their cunning, stealth and the power of their poison.
- House Aldebaran, the Resilient: This house is represented by a green minotaur head on a bronze background. Students in other houses find the stubbornness of house Aldebaran absurdly irritating, and they are too pragmatic and very suspicious. On the other hand, they are loyal and patient. Most of the members of the Aldebaran house are not usually interested in the ego games of the house Régulos and the house Antares, and are even less sociable with members of the other houses. The magic that they most fit in is Transmutation, Geomancy and Alchemy of metals, they are also good in Dressage of Wild Creatures. They don't usually get along very well with the Markab's distraction. The totem of the Aldebaran house, the minotaur, reminds them of their strength, endurance and duty as protectors.
- House Markab, the Dreamers: The symbol used on the banner to represent this house is a blue pegasus on a silver background. The students of this house are seen by others as wind heads, distracted and not very productive. It actually looks like one of the most unfair stereotypes in the academy, because although there are people like this in this house, they are not the majority. The Markab are more diverse than the other houses, so here are Dream-Walkers, Clairvoyants and it is the only house that produces Bards, that is, arcanists capable of producing magic with their music, and are very good in Aeromancy and Cryomancy. Many do not like the Aldebaran pragmatism too much. The totem pole of this house, the pegasus, reminds them of their dignity and the high flights raised for greater understanding.
- House Kaus, the Mysterious: The symbol of the house Kaus is a white unicorn on a violet background. It is the house that is more closed to the others and that receives less students, so it is called by the other houses as a detached house, that is, it does not make much difference, but the Kaus do not care. The rest of the houses find them weird, so the Kaus are usually lonely and when not, they just hang out with those in their house. Unlike the Aldebaran who are suspicious, the Kaus are really mysterious, almost like a secret society that keeps secrets. This house is also home to the largest number of non-humans in the academy. Kaus have many abilities when it comes to mental and spirit-related spells, some of the Kaus are also Planer Wanderers, that is, teleportation magic.
Once the houses were presented, the veterans looked at the newcomers with apprehension. At that moment when you are looking around the place, you see that a certain corner of the Great Red Hall is dark and there is a table there, which has nothing and no one.
"Mr. Morinehtar, you as the speaker will be the first to be selected." The deputy director told you. "Come on, get closer."
You looked around and saw Luhnasa and she smiled at you, touching your hand.
"Go on baby, everything will be fine." With that she wanted to refer to the luck of being selected for the same house... you hoped so. You smiled back at her and your friends encouraged you too. You again went to the main table staircase. There was now a man there, sitting on the throne in the middle of the table, and he had the dignity of a king. He was old, very old and had a white beard, wore a big purple cloak, was the stereotype of a wise magician, but his green eyes seemed to penetrate the soul of anyone who looked. He just watched, silent ...
"Very well, boy." The deputy director said to you. "It's time for the truth. I imagine that an acquisition like you would be desirable for any magical house." She gestured and the beautiful sword that was on the wall behind the main table came into her hands. "This is the Sword of Fate and will indicate which path you will follow."
You looked at the sword well. Its pommel was adorned by the academy ouroboros, its fist was studded with diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires and amethysts, but there was also obsidian. You imagine that each stone represents a house and you wondered which house was represented by obsidian ... The diamond of the white Régulos, the rubies of the Antares red, the emerald of the Aldebaran green, the blue sapphires of the Markab and the violet amethyst of Kaus... but what about obsidian? Anyway, it was a long sword, the guard was silver and ornamented with patterns and the sheath was black, probably ebony and silver. You drew your sword and raised it. The shiny blade contained inscriptions in ancient language. You translated the characters as Wyrd bið ful ãræd and then, translating the sentence you realized that the inscription said: fate is inexorable.
The blade began to shine in different colors, the colors of the houses, gold, violet, green, blue and red ... the color that shone last, would be the selection of the house, and to be sure, the sword usually made point to the banner of the house.
Which house did the sword select you for?
