The first time

Lucy opened her eyes and looked around her room. Nothing seemed different. She didn't feel any different. Lucy got up and looked out of her bedroom window. What she saw shocked her.

Lucy was greeted by the same view she had been used to for the past 20 years however she noticed no movement, no sound. She could see the postman on his usual route however he looked like he was frozen still, unable to move. "What the fuck?" Lucy said to herself. She couldn't believe this was happening, it couldn't be real, could it?

She raced downstairs to find her mother washing up in the kitchen. Lucy gasped, she was frozen still like the postman. Like a statue. Lucy waved her hand in front of her mother's face, calling her name but to no reaction. She then hid in the doorway to the kitchen and once again pressed the central button. Kate sprung back to life and continued washing the plate in her hand. "Hey mum?" Lucy called out. "I'm just going into town, do you need anything?" "I'm okay, thanks sweetie", her mother replied. Lucy headed out into town, eager to test this thing out more.
