The enemy of my enemy...

"HELP!" Dana screamed as she ran from the apes, letting out a yelp as she tripped over a log and falling flat on her face. As she staggered into sitting position, she let out a squeak as she noticed the gorillas now inches away from her. At that moment, Dana wished she was in front of an entire army of skunks. She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the inevitable when...

"Leave her alone!"

Dana opened her eyes to see Mary jump in front of her, arms outspread as she glared down the apes. The troop wasn't sure what to do, as they did not want to evoke the wrath of Cassandra again by making any advances with the human she protected in the way.

"Whoa!" Cassie exclaimed, "You actually stared down a group of gorillas, Mom?!"

"She most certainly did!" Steven replied. "And to this day, I'm still amazed by her bravery."

"Well, as I said before, it wasn't Cassandra who stepped in at first, but..."

The troop decided to back off, not wanting to risk enraging Cassandra. The only exception was a younger female who snarled at both of them. Dana shrieked as Mary went wide eyed in surprise as the young female began to charge...

Only to get pulled back by Cassandra as the latter roared in the younger ape's face, the female running away in fear as the rest of the troop left to the other side of the exhibit. Cassandra looked back and nodded at Mary before turning to leave as well.

"Mary!" Steven cried out as he ran over to the young woman, hugging her tightly. "Are you alright?!"

"I'm good! I-" Mary replied before blushing a dark crimson. "Steven! You're hugging me!"

"Yeah?"

"We're still ass naked!"

"EEP!" Steven squeaked as he pulled back, the two looking away awkwardly as they blushed profusely.

"You... Just saved my life."

Steven and Mary turned around to see the underwear clad security guard staring up at Mary with wide teary eyes.

"I... I was going to humiliate you and your boyfriend after that creep took pictures of you two and me, and I brought you in... And you saved my life?" Dana whimpered as she got to her feet, "Why?"

"Hey, we're not gonna let a person get killed if we can help it!" Mary stated, "We're not monsters."

Dana blinked a few times before looking up, letting out a gasp before pushing Steven and Mary into a patch of tall grass. "Get down!"

The two landed in the grass, Mary on top of Steven as they blushed even more. Steven was about to ask what was going on, when an all too familiar voice rang out.

"What the 'ell, bitch?! Ah 'ad 'em right where Ah wanted 'em!"

"The deal's off, you pervert!" Dana snapped, picking up a rock and chucking it at Gus, missing the man but knocking the phone out of his hand.

"No!" Gus yelled as he picked up his phone and looked it over. The screen was cracked, but it was otherwise still functional. With a growl, Gus turned back to Dana and shouted, "You crazy, smelly idjit! Ya almost broke my phone!"

"Hold on! Let me try again!"

"You little -"

"Hey! Who's there?!"

"Aw, hell!" Gus shouted as he bolted away from the exhibit, "This ain't over!"

"Oh crap!" Dana squeaked as she turned to the naked couple, "We gotta get out of here! Now!"

With no other words needed, Steven and Mary got to their feet and followed Dana over to a dark corner of the exhibit just as the zoo night guard stopped in front of the enclosure, looking around. After a few minutes, the guard ran off in the direction that Gus had gone in, causing the three to sigh in relief.

"Thanks for the save, Ms. ..." Steven began, trailing off a bit.

"Oh, uh, I'm Dana Richards."

"Get out of here!" Cassie said, "Aunt Dana?!"

"At the time, we didn't realize it was gonna be the woman who would become your Godmother, either." Mary said with a shrug, "Or the Maid of Honor at our wedding."

"Well, thank you so much, Dana." Mary said, "And I'm sorry we put you through a hell, but... Well, you can see that we're kinda going through a hell of our own right now."

"I'd offer half of what I have left, but after two skunk attacks in one night, you wouldn't want them anymore than I do right now." Dana replied with a sheepish chuckle. A second later, she added, "Now, how do we get out of here?"
