What's next?
The bar
Getting to the bar, Ethan steps inside, crossing an item off a bucket list he didn't know he had. He’s been inside every building in town, except for private homes, at least once over the years. Except for the bar. It had sort of been a white whale for him during his teens, but if his younger self could see it now…
It wasn't a dive, but it was certainly plain, reminding Ethan of the sorts of places working men go on TV and in movies. Looking around, he tries to spot Charlie. The place isn't busy, and Charlie usually sticks out like a sore thumb.
Towards the back, Ethan spots a familiar tanned face sitting in a booth reading what looks like a menu.
Walking towards her, Ethan clears his throat awkwardly trying to think up a greeting that doesn't make it sound like he’s uncomfortable in a bar setting. “Hey Char…” he blinks, standing next to the seated woman. “You’re not Charlie…”
She looks just like Charlie, but it’s wrong. Different. Little things about her don’t match up. She could be Charlie, but she just isn't.
“That a line?” The woman looks up from the menu, with Charlie’s brown eyes looking back at him impossibly. “If you-” she pauses regarding Ethan, blinking her eyes a moment in disbelief. “Ethan?”
“Ash…”
Ethan stares at her, and she stares back.
While he’d come hoping to meet Charlie, he instead finds himself face-to-face with her twin sister Ashley.
