Chapter 115

Describe what possible GOALs the Warden has for you.
The Warden reviews your difficulties and suggests three GOALs
The Warden casually casts an invisibility spell on you, and leads you, reeking with sex, along the halls of House Leontes to her office. She dismisses Invisibility and casts a cleansing spell that batters you with swirling wet winds, then dry ones.
You're still a little damp, and your hair is lank, when Barbara Torch hands you one of her spare dueling outfits. Though you have your wand, your robe seems to have gone missing somewhere in Master Elbegast's class. The Warden's outfit hangs on you like a tent, since you have the figure of a scarecrow, and the Warden has the figure of a wrestler.
"So, Woodbine, you're a third-year," the Warden says. "Someone who started in Leontes would usually have picked a specialty by now. In consultation with the Tutor, of course." She strokes her chin. "But since you have prevailed upon me, I shall endeavor to find something suitable to your talents." She puts her hands on her hips and tilts them back and forth.
Warden means I do a fine job licking her cunt. Though that doesn't count as a magical specialty at the Boarbristle Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"I appreciate that, Warden," you tell her. "I mean, I do expect to consult with the Tutor on a specialty. But his suggestions for me, well, right now, didn't seem like a good fit."
"Coming from Minerval," the Warden says, "You might have different understandings and expectations around your talents. Was there a specialty that you were inclined towards?"
"Well, Fay was conjurations and summonings; I was enchantments, divinations and transformations," you tell the Warden. "I did some dueling, but I didn't like the attitudes that Minerval's dueling specialists put on."
Barbara Torch nods. "Well, let's think about how things have gone for you since you've come to us from Minerval," she says. "You defended your roommate Fay from a dire Sending. After that you tested the Wards to see if it was a vulnerability that let it in. You had more difficulty with that, including our follow-up studies on banishing. Miss Wormwood's tonics have been helpful in building your stamina, but you may wish to work more to build it up. Any magical conflict is likely to tax you severely. You were not the fastest in doing your detention work of renewing the protective spells on the House gear for Broom Polo, but your work was useful and effective. When Miss Hornbeam was **** by centaurs, you took initiative, and with the assistance of your friend Miss Clawson, you thwarted them effectively. During your reunions with Miss Applebum and Miss Redmoor, you managed to be trapped in a state where you were unable to retransform into your normal forms. Twice. You fly a broom adequately. And you were at the center of a disruption in Master Elbegast's Devices class. So."
Hearing the Warden lay everything out like that leaves you feeling somewhat chagrined.
The Warden takes a deep breath and continues. "Beyond the matter of your talents and skills, there is the question of your motivation." She frowns. "From what I have seen, your motivations are largely related to your personal attachments. This makes it difficult for me to guide you in a direction of magical development that goes along with your inclinations."
Since you have none, the Warden doesn't quite say. Well, you haven't sunk through the floor yet. Not quite.
"I have three thoughts for you," Barbara Torch says. "First, I would advise a deep reading with a diviner. I shan't recommend Whiplash, for obvious reasons. Someone connected to Leontes or Beavertail would be best. Dreamwork, cards. A successful personal divination will connect you with a direction of action."
You meet the Warden's gaze with respect but make no promises.
"Secondly, if you're not ready to look inside and act on what you find, well," the Warden continues, "I recommend a course of action to build your physical endurance for use in magic. A straightforward way to do so would be to act as sparring partner for first-years still learning dueling. Assisting them in banishing and conjuration practice would also accord with building magical endurance. The Tutor will direct you."
It's not like the Warden is wrong.
"Thirdly, you appear to have some talent for enchantments which would stand you in good stead in Master Elbegast's class. I recommend that you beg his pardon and promise to study diligently. The principles you will learn will prepare you to create, let's say, a cloud-castle."
You take a deep breath. That was an impressive hideaway that the Warden took you, Fay, and Golondrina to.
"Those are the best suggestions I have for you, Morgan," the Warden concludes. "Think on them and let me know."
"Thank you, Warden," you say.
You have 5 XP and may use ADVANCEMENT. This might be chosen to further your fitting in with House Leontes or your planned magical specialty, so you may wish to defer it until choosing or completing a GOAL.
You have +2 Ambition, +0 Bravery, +2 Cunning, +0 Diligence.
You know the Forbidden Spell TRANSFORM and the spell MORPHO PHALLUS.
Your FRIENDs are Fay and Barbara Torch, the Warden of House Leontes. Barbara Torch owes you a FAVOR.
You may choose one of the GOALs the Warden has suggested, and detail it in terms of difficulty and reward, or talk with Fay and perhaps Golondrina first.
What's your next Move?
