The Vargas Brothers

„I am always glad when I can help“ McKenna answered, tongue in cheek, while giving Schmelzer a short gaze for the first time since entering the office . Schmelzer sat relaxed and leaned back in his chair, facing Nancy more than Calloway and his eyes full on her body, only somewhere underneath her chin.

Calloway bent over his desk, bracing himself on his forearms towards Nancy and continued his speech.

„Nancy, do you know the Vargas Brothers?“

Nancy grimaced in disgust. „Sure I know them. Who doesn’t? More a Clan than just brothers with their hands deep in prostitution, human trafficking and ****…“

„…and a big business of perverted porn movies in the darknet“ added Schmelzer, his wide grin suggesting that he knew what he was talking about.

Calloway tried to ignore the comment as best as he could and kept focus on his detective as she tried to kill Schmelzer with her eyes.

„Anyway,“ Calloway continued as he shifted back in his leather armchair. „Bogdan Vargas will spend the upcoming weekend in the Sundown Motel near the interstate to join whatever parties this accommodation is throwing then.“

Nancy shifted in her seat, feeling a bit nervous as she looked up to her chief with a puzzled look.

„Sorry, Captain, but I missed the point of what this has to do with me.“

Calloway exchanged a short look with Schmelzer who seemed to truly enjoy the unpleasant situation in the office.

„The **** department wants Schmelzer to get in contact with the younger Vargas Brother.“

„Schmelzer? Really?!“

She didn't even attempt to hide the doubt she had that Ryan Schmelzer could be the right guy for this job, suspecting he was more likely to be joining a party of drunk College girls and getting drunk himself.

„As for the **** department, the plan is simple. You both check in there on Friday afternoon. You will have to pose as Schmelzer's girl while joining the party so he can get in contact with Vargas.“

Nancy gulped silently. „Why can’t any of the female detectives of the vice department or the undercover section do this?“

„Cause you are exactly the type of curvy hot stunning Latina guys like Bogdan are into.“ Schmelzer answered before he continued „and we believe he got his guys in the vice squad already“

Nancy didn’t liked the idea of doing an operation together with Schmelzer in general, but posing as his girlfriend would be even more gross.

„I still don’t get the idea. How do Vargas and Schmelzer get together?“ Nancy looked towards her Captain, but Schmelzer interrupted Calloway before he ever had the chance to answer.

„Easy, sweetie….I show up with you. Vargas wants you and gets in contact with me.“

Nancy disliked this plan more and more.

„Listen, McKenna.“ Calloway spoke up. „I know you dislike this undercover mission as much as I do, but the request for you specifically comes from high above. They know your talents and they know that you might be the best fit for this mission. And by the way: The mayor wants the Vargas guys behind bars and the next election is coming. It is never bad to be in the mayor's “

The Latina detective felt her stomach turn. She didn’t want to turn her captain down, especially not when the chief, commissioner or even the major were behind the order but posing as Schmelzer's girlfriend was more then she ever wanted to do.

„So will you do this assignment? Or should I tell them to find someone else?“

Nancy tried to look deep in the eyes of Schmelzer, who easily held her stare. She knew that, somehow, he was behind all this.

„Am I not too old for this kind of party?“

Schmelzer's grin got wider.

„No, definitely not. These parties are not only for college girls and you look younger and definitely hotter than most of them!“

Again, his sentences suggested that he already knew everything about what kind of party they were to expect.

She looked back at Calloway and hesitated for a second before she replied.

„For the Major…“

Schmelzer clapped his hands together, celebrating the news.

„Great,“ Calloway hissed his relieve to get this uncomfortable situation out of the way.

„But one more thing: this is a **** operation, so Schmelzer will be in command!“

He got a shocked look from his detective.

Schmelzer got out of his chair… as he turned to his future partner. „Don’t forget to get some sexy string bikini!"
