The Toughest Battle Yet

I make the Hydra heads extend and bite down on three of the Oni's heads. They were the ones who got the closest, and in front leading the charge. I purposely make the teeth of the Hydra heads bite above the brain. I'm hoping to destroy them and kill them now.

The three Oni fall as the Hydra bites through their skulls. I pull the heads back and make them drop the severed heads. If the heads weren't fading away and covered in white light, I would've puked. The rest of the Oni continue their charge, unfaltering. I quickly count them up and am shocked to see there are 19 more. I make the heads go back in for another attack as I jump back. They all dodge the heads and the Oni behind my targets, go to attack them. I pull back and deactivate the spell, not wanting to lose Hydra yet. I Multicast Flaming Maw and send them to three different Oni.

Each of the Oni jumps out of the way and dodges it. But the mask turns around and hits their backs. I smile when I see one gets burned. I run toward the one I burned. It hasn't stopped running, not even when it got hit. I slide under its mace and lunge through its legs. I cut into both of them with my Katana and Dagger as I pass.

I do the math quickly and realize this one is down to 2147 HP. It'll go down to burn soon enough. Let's focus on another. I think before Blinking away from another attack. A sword, a bit shorter than me, hits the ground where I was. I dodge another Onis mace and cut across its waist.

I jump away to avoid another sword and immediately lose track of which one I just cut. They all have cuts and bruises from Hydra's blast earlier. So I can't tell by their injuries.

I smile when the Oni I burned, dies. The group of Onis pause, seemingly to regroup. I see a faint source of light behind them and smile wider. I run toward the Onis and start shouting, making sure their attention is focused on me. Many of them start to run back to me and the others quickly follow them. I jump toward one and Blink behind it. I attack the Oni running behind it.

I dodge an attack from another Oni. I look around and see they've surrounded me. I start dodging their attacks, either by Blinking or running. I attack whenever I can, but don't kill anymore. This continues for a few minutes before I kill another and notice something.

I notice the number of Oni attacking me has dropped. I look around and see Kallen and Kagiyama. They're about twenty feet away from me. They have four Oni attacking them. Behind them, I can see Sugano, Hino, and Myla. They're casting spells and attacking from a distance. I briefly wonder why I haven't been getting damage notifications from their attacks, but push that aside. Next to and behind them, are several dead Oni. I turn back after Clarevoyance showed me getting crushed by a mace. I dodge the mace and cut into my attacker.

I jump onto the dead Oni's shoulder. I jump again and land on the head of an Oni who was turning to Kallen. I stab my katana down into its head.

I land and count the remaining Oni again. I can only see ten and smile. Kagiyama and the others must've gotten at least ten. I've only slain seven. I think before rushing another Oni. This one was a few feet away. It's watching something to my left, the opposite of where the others are. Before I can attack it, something crashes into my side. I fall to the ground and slide across it.

I look and see my gramps on the ground next to me. He's covered in blood and is slowly sitting up.

"Sorry about that." He says while standing up. I quickly do the same and see the Chieftain slowly walking towards us. He has a few bruises and cuts on him, but I can't tell if they're new or from my attack.

"You look like shit." I say and he scoffs. I Observe the Chieftain again to see its HP. I'm shocked to see it's only at 10,283. I'd try Observing my gramps, but it won't show me his actual stats. He still has his Soul-Link with Claire. I look back and see there are four Oni left. Two of which are watching us, waiting for their Chieftain. The other two are on Kallen and Kagiyama. My gramps suddenly rushes the Chieftain and jumps. The Chieftain raises its hands to block. Regardless, it still gets knocked back. The two Oni who were waiting rush me. I dodge their attacks and cut them again. They don't die but I run back over to Kallen and Kagiyama.

"Can you handle these four?" I shout to them as I get close. One of the two Oni on them turns to me. I cut along its leg while running past.

"Why?" Sugao asks me.

"My gramps seems to be struggling with the Chieftain. I want to go lend him a hand." I reply while checking on Myla and Hino. They're low on MP, but they haven't taken any damage. They seem tired though.

"Yeah, leave them to us! They're much easier to handle thanks to your first attack." Kallen shouts while blocking an attack with his shield. Kagiyama jumps and punches it in its face. It falls to the ground, dead. The two from before arrive and start their attack.

"Thanks!" I shout before taking out my wings. I fly over to where my gramps and the Chieftain are. I find them outside the destroyed village. I can see my gramps is struggling. The Chieftain is smiling but I do notice both of his weapons are missing.
