The Start of a New Adventure - Part 1

Friday 6:00 AM - Royal Grove

Chloe inched her way expectantly to the entrance of the cave. Even so, she knew what she would find, a clearing sloping down from the cave she was in. Where the clearing ended a forest began and it was always full of Jackels and Hyena. She hated them, especially the Hyenas and their sick cackling laughter. Somewhere in the clearing, she knew she would see a Red Wolf. Sometimes it was close to the entrance of the cave and sometimes it was closer to the treelines but sometimes it wasn't there at all. This time she couldn't see it. The wolf wasn't there. But she could see the Hyenas and the Jackels drooling and laughing just inside the treeline, and when they saw her they charged up the slope.

Chloe sprung up in her bed with a start, her heart pounding in her chest. Sidney, Chloe's Irish Setter that her grandparents had gifted her for her Sweet 16th birthday, quickly jumped on her bed to nuzzle with her.

"Is it time yet?" Meagan said sleepily from the sleeping bag on the floor. Meagan had slept over to get a head start the next day.

"No," Chloe said. "It's 6:00 AM"

"What the hell Chloe?" Meagan said rubbing her eyes. "We had another hour to sleep!"

"Had a bad dream again," Chloe said and she retold her dream and the few variants she had come across, like when the wolf would try to enter the cave and she would shoo it away or when she would find herself in the forest being chased by the Hyenas and Jackels and she ran until she found the cave again.

"You know what that dream means?" Meagan asked seriously

"What?" Chloe asked with curiosity, hoping to finally solve the riddle of the repeated dreams.

"It means you need to get laid." Meagan teased her friend and ducked to avoid the pillow flying at her.

Gavin grumbled as he finished his breakfast. He really didn't want to go on the trip, especially with Brandon going as well. But his mother insisted that he go. She had insisted that Gavin get out of his room, take some fresh air, the same arguments she always made to get him to go camping with Zack every summer. He wished he could have stayed out of this trip like Kevin and Leon, but his mother was just so adamant about him going now and on those camping trips.

The only good thing about the trip was that Madison and Heather were going. He didn't think anything would happen with either of them. He knew Heather was completely out of his league and Madison... well the last time he had tried to talk to her he almost got his ass kicked and he was sure Brandon would do it again. 'Oh well... No harm in dreaming' he thought hoping to get a good look at all the girls. At least he had his laptop, tablet and with the satellite dish, he could escape from everyone else.

Zack Bishop woke up and rushed his breakfast. He was pretty excited about getting to spend a week close to Victoria Walker, the girl of his dreams. He just knew this week was going to be special. He'd been daydreaming of romantic walks on the beach or in the forest. Spending nights in front of the fireplace at the cabin and dreaming of hearing her call his name while they made love.

He only wished that Kevin and Leon were also coming. He knew their excuse about not wanting to miss playing on the team today was really lame. He just wished they would have said they didn't like the others that were going on the trip. The others on the trip were his other childhood friend Ashley Woodsen with her two best friends, Victoria Walker and Heather Ravers, and... her boyfriend Brandon. Zack and Brandon had a pretty rocky start in high school but something had changed in Brandon, and he was now a somewhat decent guy. Still an idiot and a jerk but he didn't seem to do it out of malice or spite. Brandon had even helped Zack and his friends a few times.

At least his best friend Chloe was coming and so was Gavin, always the trooper even if he grumbled a lot about these trips. Meagan was also coming so at least Chloe had one female friend. He had hoped Sylvie and Bonnie would come as well but even last night they were both still on the fence about coming.

The idea for the trip started last year when he got his driver's license. His original idea was to make this trip with just their close friend, Gavin, Leon, Kevin, and Chloe, with her close friends Bonnie, Sylvia, and Meagan. But then Ashley found out and wanted to come, which was cool. Her family and his had always been close and their older sisters, Taylor and Hannah, were best friends. Ashley coming with her friends was fantastic because it meant that he had a chance with Victoria... and then Ashley got a boyfriend and the more people that joined the more people started dropping out of the trip.

Still, Zack wasn't about to back out of his own idea and when he finished his breakfast he hurried to his old 2005 Ford Focus and started packing their travel bags, his hiking backpack, Gavin's satellite dish, and the boxes of food and other supplies for the cabin. The others were taking other supplies in their cars and they had planned to meet up at Meechie's, fuel up, and drive the rest of the almost three-hour trip up to the Cabin the Bishops shared with the Woodsens. Since it was so far away they had decided to skip school today and start Spring Break early.

While Zack found a way to put everything in the trunk, the moms were busy giving last-minute advice to them. Sidney seemed to know something was up since she kept getting the way and jumping on Chloe and the rest of the kids. She even jumped into the trunk and tried to settle in before Zack pulled her out.

Zack looked wistfully back at the house and where he had left Orion sleeping on his pillow. Orion was a great company to snuggle up with when he was reading but not so much to play with like Sidney was. Then again all Sidney wanted to do was play and there never was and peace and quiet with her around.

As Zack closed the truck door his mother, Monica Bishop, came over and put her hands on his shoulders. "Remember you're in charge over there. Don't let those football players run you over. I know the type, they're good kids but some booze and they go a little wild."

"Mom, I know what I'm doing." Zack pleaded with his mother

"I know sweetie," she said and pulled him in for a tight hug. Zack felt her ample breast press into his chest and for a moment he felt a flush of embarrassment at being so close to his mother and feeling her breast against him.

"Just in case you need them, I put in your bag some condoms and other protection," Monica whispered into his ear while she held him tightly.

"MOM!!" Zack whispered back as his face turn bright red.

"Hush!" Monica said tightening her grip. "You need to get over Lisa and whoever that girl is you have a crush on. You're going to be with a lot of beautiful girls and I am sure there will be other groups around the lake. Just... Just relax and try to have fun, and if you get a chance to... to.... well you know... you got something just in case. OK?"

"OK, thanks Mom." Zack sighed and relaxed, patting her on the back. He knew she was right and it was exactly what he was hoping would happen with Victoria Walker, the girl he had a crush on for so long. He had wanted to add some condoms for when he scored with Victoria, but was afraid and embarrassed that his mother might find out and tell the rest and embarrass him even more. It seemed his mother was way cooler than he gave her credit for. "Don't forget to feed Orion will you?" He asked his mom and she just smiled and nodded before going to give the other a hug and well wishes.

"You sure you don't want to wait for Jared?" his mother asked. She was referring to an old childhood friend of Zack and the son of one of Monica's old high school friends.

"No," Zack said dryly and when his mother's questioning look again he added. "Jared is... different. He's not the same. It's all about football and girls and... I don't know... Doesn't feel the same. I don't know, It's all different, everything changed."

"I Understand," Monica nodded, and even though she was convinced that Zack needed a more outgoing friend to push him to have more fun, especially with girls, she also knew that he was such a romantic kid, she just hoped he never got his heart broken.

Diane Westher, Gavin's mother, came next to give him a hug "Drive carefully, and behave out there, you have to bring everyone back home you hear?" she simply said.

Chloe McRose, Zack's best friend since forever took her usual place in the passenger seat next to him. In the backseat, behind Zack, was Gavin and behind Chloe, her friend, Meagan Volland, settled in. Meagan was one of Chloe's female friends along with Sylvie and Bonnie, all four of them had bonded together when they started playing soccer in high school. Meagan got along ok with Zack and Gavin, more tolerant of them than friendly them like Sylvie and Bonnie were. Meagan was a bit more outgoing of the girls and also a lesbian, which led her to not spending as much time with them as Sylvie and Bonnie would. She was also excited about the possibilities of finally being able to nail one of the cheerleaders, and with three of them on the trip, she was sure she could score with one of them.

Getting back into the car Charlotte McRose, Chloe's mother, leaned into the doorframe giving Zack a perfect downblouse view of her massive freckled cleavage almost right in his face. Zack's eyes popped wide open before he quickly turned away, his face turning a bright crimson, red enough to match the color of Charlotte's hair.

"MOM!!" Chloe said embarrassed by her mother's antics almost as much as Zack.

Charlotte just laughed a bit before becoming serious. "OKay you guys. You watch out for each other, protect each other and everything will be fine. Remember, THE PACK STAYS TOGETHER. That goes for you too Meagan. Your part of this pack too you hear me?" the kids all nodded, even Meagan, a little surprised how she was including her in the group.

"Now hurry up and go before it gets too dark." Monica said, "See you next week."

And with that Zack pulled out of the driveway and started the almost three-hour drive to the Cabin.

After the kids pulled away the three women looked at each other.

"They grow up so fast," Monica said seeing her boy drive away. She felt like he was taking his first step out of the house and into one of those adventures he was always reading about.

"Yeah. I want some grandkids while I can still enjoy them." Diane added.

"God I hope she finally come out of her shell," Charlotte said wishfully.

"You still going with the family curse and legend?" Monica asked her redheaded friend.

"Well... What do you want me to tell her?" Charlotte said. "Sweetie, I want you to know that all the women in our family have a gene that turns us all into a horny little hussy. You are going to jump from one bed to the next until you find someone that can keep you satisfied." Charlotte lifted her eyebrow. "Or tell her we have a curse? Holly really believes it you know. At least last week I caught her hiding a chat with a boy from her class."

"Yea," Monica agreed "I'd go with the curse too," Monica said "But don't you think you should try something else?" as the three friends turned to walk back inside.

"But it's true," Diane added.

"You're only taking her side because you don't want her to cut you off from Roy's dick," Monica laughed at Diane who just winked and smiled impishly.

"When is Roy coming back?" Diane asked with an eager impish grin on her face. Roy McRose had just taken his other daughter, Holly, to the school to meet up with the other kids who would all be spending Spring Break camping near Cobalt Lake.

"He should be back by lunchtime," Charlotte said smirking at her and then added with fake innocence. "Why?"

"Oh...well," Diane said with a twinkle in her eyes "With the kids away... I thought we might get an early start."

"Why not?" Charlotte shrugged and both women gave her knowing smiles and nodded.

"The Den?" Monica asked feeling her body flush. "But I'll have to cut it short. I have some errands to run after lunch." The other women nodded and they all headed to the McRose residence and into the basement.
