The Rogue cuts to the chase

The rogue player smirked to herself. She was disinterested in playing along with these elaborate schemes; she just didn’t have the patience for them. Instead of going through the effort to gather the clues and solve the puzzle she had absentmindedly scrolled through her character inventory and noticed something interesting they had gotten their hands on ages ago, which had languished in her backpack for many sessions. She leaned forward towards the gaming table, hiding her pokerface behind her - entirely unnecessary, since they were indoors - dark sunglasses.

ROGUE: ”Guys, I’ve got a quick way to solve this.” I get up from the table and go find the barmaid. Is she nearby?

DM: You observe the barmaid just finished delivering a round of drinks at one of the busy tables, spending a little while talking to the patrons. You suspect she was probably sowing clues for you guys to collect through subtle informationgathering.

ROGUE: That’s all fine and dandy but I don’t need it. I approach her when she’s back at the counter, tell her I can get her the answer and ask her to step into the back room with us for a moment.

DM: The barmaid regards you skeptically. After all she has only barely begun placing the clues and your party hasn’t even left their table to go talk to anyone or listen in to any conversations so there’s no way you could have solved the puzzle yet. From her expression you can tell she’s wary whether you’re trying to pull some kind of trick on her. Could you roll a persuasion check for me, to see if she follows you into the back?
