The Phone Rings

Spencer went back to his room to check on his phone, where he noticed Danielle had left her bag. He smiled, certain that his red-haired nympho had probably planned to do so. That's when his phone rang. He went to grab it, finding he had a call from Abigail, Kirsten's mother. After a deep breath, he answered the phone.

"Hello dear." Abigail said.

"Hey. Uhh, how's it going?"

"Good. How about you?"

"I've been great."

"Well, the reason I called is that Geoff and I wanted to come up to your place for Christmas and visit you and Amy for a week."

"Sure, that shouldn't be a problem at all."

"Perfect. So how have you been dear?"

"Uhh good. But I have something to tell you."

"Oh, what is it dear?"

"I'm... seeing someone."

"Oh... well that's great. What's her name?"

"Danielle. She works at the local bank."

"So how long have you been seeing her?"

"About a month so far."

"Will she be around for Christmas?"

"Probably. She lives alone."

"Well, I'm sure she's lovely. Do you want to talk with Geoff?"

"Sure."

The phone exchanged hands, and Geoff's voice boomed "Champ?"

"Hey Geoff."

"Been up to much?"

"Uhh, I met someone."

"Is she hot?" Geoff laughed for a second.

"Uh yeah."

"That's my champ. Seriously though, I'm glad your happy."

"Thanks. So you catch any fish recently?"

"Agh, no such luck. River froze over sooner than expected."

"Shame."

"It happens."

"So, anything else happening?"

"Ah, not really. Is Amy up, or is she still asleep?"

"I'll go check."

Spencer headed to the living room, where Amy was eating some cereal. She looked to her father who said "Pa is on the line."

Amy gave him a nod as Spencer handed her the phone. Spencer fixed himself a coffee as Amy talked about school, wondering how Kirsten's parents felt about him moving on. So far they seemed supportive, but he didn't know if they were speaking their minds. He'd also have to maneuver around Danielle's own family and their plans for Christmas. Still, he figured he could deal with that when he caught up with his girlfriend.
