The Origins of an Angel

As Jen slept, Amia laid wide awake, thinking back on the events of both the previous day, and her entire lifetime. Amia's earliest memory was waking up in a complete void. There was nothing there. If you think you know what emptiness is, you don't. The newly created Amia knew absolutely nothing. Not who she was, where she was, or even what she was. She knew nothing but what he told her. For out of this void of nothingness Amia had felt intense love. She felt his presence all around her, and she felt completely loved and protected, not that there was anything to harm her.

"Amia...." She heard a distant voice call out.

"W-...who are you?" Amia asked.

"I am the one who created you," The voice replied.

"Where are you?"

"I am all around. I am reality itself."

"Who am I?"

"You are Amia, a being a have created. That is what you are. As for what you will become, that it up to you."

Amia was confused at this.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"I have decided that no longer do I wish to exist on my own. I wish to have companionship for all eternity, and I wish for you to help make that happen."

"How?"

"I offer you the chance to be higher than all other creations. To be my second-in-command, my assistant if you will. But please only undertake this task if you wish to. If you choose to decline, I shall not turn against you, and you shall live happily among the other creations."

"It would be an honour to serve you. But what should I call you?"

"Just call me...God."

And so it was that Amia took up her place at God's side. The two of them designed the first universe together, creating the first inhabitants of the various worlds. They created heaven and hell as rewards and punishments, not for those who did or didn't follow God, but for those who showed good intentions in their treatment of others. Those mortals who showed promise were offered the chance to become the first angels to carry out God's will across the universe, and they still served faithfully even by the time Jen took over. Over this time, Amia developed a strong attachment for God. They loved each-other not romantically, but as father and daughter, which in many ways they were. He was patient and kind, always willing to help her if she couldn't do something right away or if she made a mistake. For several quintillion years, Amia and God ran the universe together, until one day...

"Amia, may I speak to you?" God asked his chief archangel.

"Of course Lord," Amia replied.

"Amia..." God seemed to be struggling to find the right words to tell her. "I have decided to retire."

"Retire? What do you mean retire?" Amia was slightly worried by what he was saying.

"I mean that I will no longer be God. Someone else will."

"But...YOU are God, not someone else. You can't retire!"

"Amia, I understand that this is upsetting you, which is why I offer you a choice. You chose to serve me, not anyone else, so it's only fair that I shouldn't **** you to serve anyone else. So I give you this choice: give up her status as an angel, and ascend to heaven, or continue to serve my successor, and their successors, for all eternity. But I warn you, if you commit to serving the Gods, there will be no going back."

"I...I don't know!"

"I understand. You may have time to think about it. Until then, I would like your help in choosing my successor. I have some candidates in mind already..."

Amia and God discussed the matter for several days, before deciding on a man known as Sharam to be the next God.

"I..I've decided," Amia told God. "I wish to serve. I trust in your judgement, that retiring is the best thing."

"Thank you Amia," God said. "And do not worry about me. I shall ascend to a special heaven specially for myself and my successors, which is infinitely better than normal heaven. Now, shall we get it over with?" After the power transfer had been done, the first God vanished, and Amia shed a tear.

"I know this may be hard for you, but I promise I will treat you with the same respect that he did," Sharam said.

"Thank you," Amia said through her tears.

The process continued for a while, until they got to the 6th God. He decided that he no longer liked the universe, and so decided to destroy it with a flick of his wrist.

"What did you just do!?" Amia protested.

"Relax, I sent them all to heaven or hell as appropriate," God #6 assured her. "Now I can get to work on making existence how I like it." This is how it came to be that, every few Gods, they would decide they didn't like the current universe, and destroy and rebuild it. It was also result of this that Gods came about that Amia believed were not as good as they should be. The Gods of the first universe had been raised on the teachings of the original God, but these new people didn't have religion as huge parts of their lives, so they did not carry on the original God's teachings, except when Amia advised them to do so, and only if they felt like listening to her.

This all happened so long ago. So long that to write it out in Earth years would exceed a Googol of digits. In that time had more masters than she cared to count. Some were fairly average, and some were genuinely good, and tried to run the universe well. Some were pure evil, and she remembered one whose favourite pastime was treating his subjects as a small child treats their toys; as things to **** for fun, seeing their suffering as entertainment. Then there were the Gods who weren't evil, but also weren't particularly good as Gods, either because they were simply lazy, or more focused on having fun than running the universe. She had spent a large amount of time satisfying her masters' whims. Time which could have been better spent running the universe, but apparently they thought that commanding her to spend every waking moment sucking their cocks, or whatever their gender/species had as an equivalent, was much more important.

Amia looked down at Jen, and smiled. She had truly wanted to make her feel good, for it had been far too long since she'd had a master as kind as her, and she was extremely grateful. She had been able to properly relax for the first time in centuries, and she hoped that she would be able to keep this high standard of Gods up for a long time. Amia gave the sleeping Jen a kiss, and headed to sleep.
