The First Game of the Season

It was finally the end of the school week and that could only mean one thing. It was time for the first boys soccer game of the year. This meant that most of the Ravers clique was going to be at the game since they were either soccer players or cheerleaders.

Right now the team was out on the field warming up so that they would be loose for the game. The team knew that they had a pretty good chance of going far this year since they had returned a bunch of players from the year before.

The cheerleaders were getting loose as well. With the uniforms that they were wearing, they would for sure be keeping the crowd into the game. Especially the men that were there to watch.

Zack walked off the field to sit down and rest for a couple of minutes before the game started. He looked up as he saw a few people approaching him. The sight was enough to put a smile on his face.

“Good luck today, baby.” Sharon said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“Yeah, good luck in the game, Ice. Make us proud.” Ashley said as she gave him a kiss as well.

“Thanks and I will do my best. I will see both of you after the game.” Zack said as he went back to focusing on the game and his girlfriends made their way back over to the cheerleaders.

The game was finally about to start ten minutes later. Zack was one of the forwards on the team. He was more of an assist man than anything else. Trent was the man who scored most of the goal, but Zack did get a few from what the coach called garbage shots, which was when the goalkeeper didn’t get control of the ball and he kicked it in for a score.

As the game started, everyone could see that both of the teams were pretty well matched. It didn’t take long for Duskville to get on the board though, with an assist from Zack to Trent.

“Yeah! Good assist, Ice!” Ashley cheered for her boyfriend as the ball went into the back of the net.

“That’s right boys. Show them what you’ve got.” Heather cheered as well.

Unfortunately, Duskville didn’t stay in the lead for long as after about another two to three minutes the opponent went down the field and scored their first goal. From there on everything was going back and forth between the two teams without either team scoring.

The crowd was starting to get nervous as they thought that things were going to be easy for the team since they were so experienced. That is not always the way things went though. Both teams were playing great, which made for a good game.

Zack and Trent kept working well together, but they still couldn’t get the ball past the other team's defense or goalkeeper. They were lucky that their defense was playing great as well. Brandon was holding his own in the goal as well. He wasn’t letting anything past him after the first goal had passed him.

“Damn. I don’t know what to do here. This team is tough and we can’t seem to get by them.” Zack said to Trent when the ball was toward their defensive end.

“I know what you mean. Just keep going at them. We will get something sooner or later.” Trent said and Zack nodded as the ball was coming toward him.

Zack turned and saw that Trent might have a run, so he kicked the ball over the defense and he saw that he was right as Trent outran the defense to the ball and was able to get it past the goalkeeper for Duskvilles second goal of the game.

“Yeah baby! That’s it! Show them how it’s done!” Sharon shouted as the team made their way back to center field so that the opponent could start the game back up.

The defense for Duskville was able to hold for the rest of the half. This meant that the home team went into halftime with the lead.

As the teams came off the field, they went to their respective benches and listened to their coaches to see if there was anything that they needed to do better in the second half. Duskville’s coach didn’t have much to say as to what they needed to do better.

“You guys are doing great out there. There isn’t much that you need to do better. You just need to keep up what you are doing and everything will be fine. Zack and Trent, keep putting the pressure on their defense and goalkeeper and we might be able to get another goal or two. Defense, you guys are doing great. Brandon, keep up what you are doing. You are doing great back there kid.” the coach said.

The team nodded and then they all sat down and made sure that they were rested for the rest of the game. About ten minutes later the teams were back on the field and ready to go for the second half.

Zack looked over at Trent and said, “Let’s keep the pressure on them. If we do that, we should have no problem for the rest of the game.”

Trent nodded and looked toward the ball as the other team kicked the ball off and play started again. For the first five minutes, the game stayed like it was in the first half. Very even. Soon though, things started to turn around and the opponent was starting to put more pressure on Duskville. At about the seventh minute of the second half, the opponent scored another goal, which tied the game up.

For the most part, after the other team scored the tying goal, everything went back to the way that the end of the first half played out with both of the teams being even. Zack and Trent kept putting pressure on the other team, but neither of them could get the ball into the goal.

They knew that if they kept this up that they would get a goal sooner or later, so they kept putting pressure on the other teams defense and goalkeeper.

The game time was starting to run short and they didn’t want the game to end in the tie. You could tell this by the way that the midfield was starting to get more involved in the offense, which was putting even more pressure on their opponent.

The coach was yelling at them from the sideline letting the team know that time was running out. They knew that there was only about five minutes left in the game and it looked like the other team's defense was starting to wear down because of the constant pressure that Duskville was putting on them.

Another few minutes went by and they still hadn’t scored a goal left. There were only two minutes left in the game now and they were starting to get **** to score another goal so that the game didn’t end in a tie.

Zack motioned with his head for Trent to take off running so that they could try another play like what happened near the end of the first half when they scored their second goal. Trent got a good break, but not good enough as one of the defensemen cut him off. Trent still took a shot and it looked good. It ended up going over the goalkeeper's head, but it was off target with the goal.Trent was shaking his head knowing that he had missed another chance for his team to win, but then he caught sight of something.

Zack was running toward the goal and it looked like he would be able to cut the ball off before it went out of bounds. Zack got to the ball just in time and kicked it into the back of the net and pretty much assured that Duskville would win the game.

As the teams were getting ready to start the game back up, the referee blew his whistle signaling that it was the end of the game. The crowd emptied out onto the field as the game was called and they were all celebrating with the team.

“You did great, son. I am proud of you.” Robert said as he made his way to Zack.

“Yeah, you did great, sweetie. Taylor is going to be so upset that she missed this.” Monica said.

“Thanks mom and dad.” Zack said as he was just about tackled to the ground by a long haired brunette.

“You did so good, big brother.” Heather said, clearly excited about how the game had gone.

“Thanks, sis.” Zack said as he kissed his sister on the top of the head.

Soon enough he was surrounded by both of his girlfriends. Heather and the rest of her family left the three of them alone and went to congratulate the rest of the players.

“I am so happy for you, Ice. You played great out there and you ended up being the star of the game.” Ashley said.

“Thanks, Sparky. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.” Zack said as he kissed the blonde.

“Don’t sell yourself short, baby. This is how you get most of your goals. You know how to crash the goal when a shot is made, so that you are there if the goaltender doesn’t get it.” Sharon said.

“I guess you have a point. It is part of the job though.” Zack said as he gave his other girlfriend a kiss.

“So, what is going on now? Is there going to be a party or anything?” Ashley asked.

“That would be fun, but I think I am too worn out to even do that.” Zack said.

“I hope you aren’t too worn out. I think you deserve to be treated like a hero tonight.” Sharon said.

“You most definitely do, Zack.” Ashley said as both of his girlfriends smiled at him mischievously.

“I think I am getting my second wind now that I think about it.” Zack said and the girls couldn’t help but laugh.

“I thought that would be the case.” Sharon said and Ashley nodded.

“So, why don’t we head to the mansion and give our hero our thanks.” Ashley said as she took one of Zack’s arms and Sharon took the other one as they made their way out of the stadium and to their cars so that they could all go to the mansion.

As Zack was making his way home he couldn’t help but think of what the night had in store for him. He would have two very beautiful girls with him for the rest of the night and he couldn’t think of a better way to spend his night.
