The Fall of Alice

She had taken a picture behind her school near the door they used to go to the sports field. She had a key to that door after she made a copy of the one her teacher 'lost' one day by way of one of her first, practice spells.

There shouldn't be anyone here on the morning to see her arrive. She would just slip in and go to class.

The world flashed and she was behind her school.

The contrast between the warmth of her room and the cool yet sunny, fall Maine day made the cold-sensitive Alice shiver. (And jiggle.) At least there wasn't any snow here as there was at her home, a few blocks away. And overcast. Here she could actually see her shadow. There was something odd about it.

But why think about those things? Get into the heated building, Alice! She reached to pull her bag (brushing against the skin of a boob) and found only the skin of her shoulder.
