Chapter 8 by Delta77 Delta77

What's next?

The “mercy” quest

The good news was: you already conpleted the first part of the quest: gather raw healing material.

When you grabbed the red lavender you noticed that the quest logged them as “tier 2”. Not sure how that works, or how many tiers there are but tier 2 is either some of the best healing medicine around, or some of the worst. Considering you found these in a cultists layer you expected the latter.

Still beggars can’t be choosers, especially dying beggars so it would have to do.

For the secons step you had to remove the red flowers from the stem, mash them to mush and then mix them with water.

Removing the flowers seemed to be rather challenging but eventually you managed to do it by just jumping on them until they fell off and then “eating” the stem. It wasn’t pretty, fast or effective but you didn’t have hands. So again: it would have to do.

The advantage was that the flowers where already turned to mush from your jumping on them. After that you found a pot which had some water in it in the same medicinal cabinet as the flowers. While grabbing those you also just pulled out the entire cabinet and **** it with you in case you needed anything else.

You added the squished leaves to the water and started to shake it while reading the next step. And your stomach dropped.

Amputation.

There was half a book of text just talking about why this was the case, with keypoints and evolution and even some blood magic.

You just ignored it: the reason didn’t matter. What was important was that you would need to somehow amputate her arms at the shoulder.

You weren’t a surgeon, and even if you where you had nothing here but a bottle, dead goat and a sli- that it! You can absorb organic material. So if you “eat” her arms you can perfectly choose where they get cut.

You quickly read through the fourth and final step just to be safe but all it told you was to pour the healing liquid on the amputated wound and let the patient rest.

And so, while your brain was conflicted between joy at finally getting to eat (monster brain) vs you absolutly terrified and disgusted (human brain) you positioned yourself over her left arm and started to eat.

It was suprisingly easy to go through a human and you were glad you didn’t taste anything (not sure if you ever wanted to after this). What you weren’t happy about was the fact that you saw the whole process slowly happening. It was as mesmerising as a big dangerous fire. It was horrifying, seeing a human arm consumed by enzymes seeing flesh and bone disintegrating. But on the other hand it was so horrible that you couldn’t look away, etching every excruciating detail into your mind to torment you for the rest of your life.

Altough it felt like an eternity to you it only took a couple minutes in reality. You had eaten a human arm.

Quickly stepping aside to apply your healing potion you noticed 2 things:

1) her HP was down to [5/25] while you were eating her arm. But as you applied the healing potion it rose to [6/25]

2) her shoulder, despite having flesh and bone exposed wasn’t bleeding. Some of your goop was covering the wound. Whether that was good or not for infections you weren’t sure but at least for now it prevented her from bleeding, and thats the important thing.

As you applied the healing potion you magically saw flesh growing over her amputated arm finally restoring it to something that you coud look at without feeling sick. Worryingly you also saw some of your goop being covered up so thats inside of her now, hopefully that won’t cause issues later on.

Once you saw no more exposed flesh you repeated the process on her other arm.

When you were done her HP was down to [4/25] but at least she wasn’t bleeding anymore.

And with this the mercy quest was considerd “complete”.

Now what?
