Talking To The police

Talking WithOut Saying Much

A.J. :

Siggler leaves me alone with my thought, do I tell the truth to the police or do I cover up what happened. For more than ten minutes I work the delmina in my mind before I’m finally made to the ultimate decision. A knock on my door as a man i never met before comes in, his hand holding a police badge so I could see it.

“Miss Pratchett, I’m Detective Horan! He holds his let hand out to me to shake “If you’re up for it I would like to clear up a few things!” he looks to me before continuing “Why were you on Center Drive at 9:30 pm last night?”

So the moment of truth has arrived and I chosen to cover up the exact reason for now. “I was driving to a girlfriend’s place when I lost control!” The look in his eyes told me he didn’t buy my answer and his next question cemented that fact

“And what’s the name of this girlfriend?” His eyebrow raised as I hesitate answering.

“Amanda Miles!” The one person who hates the police more than I do, so I knew she would cover for me if they called her before I did! A few more questions is posed to me before Horan is possibly satisfied enough to hand me his card.

“If any other detail should come back to you give me a call! Before he left I asked if I could get the name and address of my rescuer so I could thank him in person. He gives me the information of Jason Holmes at 243 Queenston Heights. As he leaves the same oriental nurse returns to unhook me from the monitor and to take ot the I.V. drip. Finding my clothes neatly folded in a cabinet beside the bed, I dress and make my mind up to pay Mister Holmes a visit before calling my dad.

Jason:

I go out getting a copy of today’s paper , a coffee and some donut holes. Back home I flip through the pages when my eyes spot a small paragraph about last night’s little adventure. There was no names mention just that a car was pulled out of Merton River just north on Centre Drive and that the police was investigating. Great nothing to connect me with the incident.

By nine am I’m through the holes and read whatever caught my fancy in the paper. By ten I’ve shaved, showered and ready to think about going into work today, the joy of being a self employed accountant, I work as hard and as long as I want when tax season isn’t on. Around elevenish I collect everything, getting ready to walk out the door when a taxi pulls up into my driveway

Who the hell is this? A lady around 5’7” gets out looking a little nervous! “Excuse me!, are you Jason Holmes?”

“Yes, can I ask who you are?
