Takes off the gag

“Liara…” Shepard whispered. “What did you… do?”

She carefully removed the ball gag to allow Liara to speak but kept the blindfold on knowing it would be difficult to look Liara in the eyes.

“S-Shepard?” Liara said. “Of course it’s you… when Mistress told me she was bringing a special visitor… I hoped… oh Shepard…”

“Mistress? Liara, what did you do?” Shepard asked.

“I… I know I can never earn your forgiveness or love again,” Liara said. “And I regret everything that I did. So I did the one thing I could think of. I made a legal binding lifelong contract and went to the only person I knew wouldn’t show me any mercy. I… I did to myself what I had pretended to do to you…”

“But why?” Shepard asked as she touched Liara’s face. “Why would you… do this?”

“Because…” Liara cried. “I can never forgive myself for what I did to you. This is the only way.”

“When you say lifelong…” Shepard said.

“I mean until the day I die,” Liara said. “I can transfer ownerships only if Mistress comes to an agreement with someone else, but the terms of the contract will never change. My body is not mine. My words are not mine either. I must refer to my owner as Mistress.”

Shepard sat down not knowing what to do. “I’m sorry…”

“No!” Liara shouted. “Don’t do that Jane! I deserve this. I did this all to myself. No person **** me. No person told me to. I decided that this was how I was going to punish myself. Don’t feel sorry for me.”

“Liara…”

“Don’t you dare!” Liara cried. “I… deserve this…”

Shepard removed the blindfold as she saw tears streaming down Liara’s face as their eyes met.
