Jade breathed a sigh of relief as the poll closed. She had been regretting making this a decision for her audience. They are worth more in regions they do not grow in for their alchemical and culinary properties but in places they grow they are nearly worthless for the vast quantity they tend to bloom in. Consuming too many of the raw berries can have undesirable long lasting effects.

Raw Consumption: A single berry eaten a day provides the consumer with an inner cold feeling, a chill in their blood. Most dismiss this as a bad thing to have while in frozen conditions but the more experienced traveller knows this is a temporary resistance to the cold conditions. It does not make one immune to the effects of direct ice and snow nor does it make one any more resistant to ice spells or other cold magical effects but it helps with survival in freezing temperatures. Consuming more berries than a single one a day is not recommended, side effects have been known to cause the skin to become blue among other unknown effects.

Jade thought back to the goblin with their blue skin. Were they under the effects of over consumption of snowberries? They seemed to be alright… enough so they managed to trick and overcome Jade before making off with her supplies. She noticed her exposure meter had halted too. She also saw a new bar appear, a small green bar that filled ever so slightly, this was labeled experience. It seemed that combat was not the only way to earn XP, identifying unknown flora counted as well.

Jade decided to collect some berries while she was here. Filling her coat pockets with at least two dozen icy blue berries she wondered if she would get a chance to sell these berries. Maybe she could even learn to make them into a potion or cook them into a meal. She could at the very least make use of them if she needed to travel for more days through the snowy terrain. Setting off once more Jade walked through the berry bush flanked path. From here her way became more wooded, with large pine trees covered in snow all around her. As Jade journeyed forward she noticed her quest marker getting even bigger. It must not have been far now till she reached wherever she was headed. A growling sound broke through the silence of the moderate snowfall, making Jade jump in surprise.

She turned her head to the side, looking in the direction of the bestial noise. What sort of animal made that sound? It had not sounded far away either… before Jade could think too hard on it she stepped off the beaten track and walked through the snowy brush in the direction of the sound. Not far from the path she came to a little camp set up under a fallen tree that was resting against a very large rock.

Within one of the cages, movement caught Jade's eyes. A lumbering furry form shifted. Jade had moments to react but what was the right move? Draw her own weapon and try to fight? Reason with this person? Try to free the bear before they got to her? Run away?
