Sue Storm Should Focus on Helping Spider-Man and His Wife

"So Spider-Man and his wife are trying to get pregnant," Dr. Stone said. "And how are you helping with that?"

The psychiatrist's question caught Sue Storm off guard. She had expected some opprobrium when she confessed her harmless fantasies. That was as far as she had gotten in giving Spider-Man a helping hand.

"You're a mother," Dr. Stone said. "You've had difficulty with pregnancies before."

"Yes," Sue replied. The word came out with more weight than she intended. Just thinking about it stirred old regrets in Sue's life. Her miscarriage. The strangeness of her pregnancy with Valeria. The stress of birth—she had needed so much help, had almost died and lost the baby each time.

Dr. Stone seemed to anticipate this. Her head inclined, the round lenses of her glasses caught the light from the window in such a way that they seemed to become circles of fire, as if her eyes glowed from within.

"You should want to help your friend and his wife," Dr. Stone said. "Do you?"

"Yes," Sue said automatically. She blinked slow, her head felt funny. The gravimetric pulse from Moonstone hit the heroine's brain like six shots of tequila, and the words of the psychiatrist sank into her grey matter easily and without question.

"There are so many ways you can help them, can't you? With your powers," Dr. Stone said.

"I suppose," Sue said. Her imagination began to work on the problem.

"The very idea of pregnancy. Helping people get pregnant. Getting pregnant. That's exciting, isn't it?" Dr. Stone said.

"Yes," the heroine replied, a warm feeling spreading out from her crotch. A sort of burgeoning excitement that mingled with memories of maternal fulness.

"So you should help them," Dr. Stone pressed. "In any way you can."

"Of course," Sue said, with more surety in her voice.

"And don't take no for an answer," Dr. Stone insisted.
