Sue Has An Adverse Reaction

The Invisible Woman held the pole in one hand. The lights in the room seemed too bright. Her head began to pound. Heart hammered against her breastbone. The room began to spin, and Sue's hand tightened on the pole as her legs collapsed beneath her. The edges of her vision grew red as she sank to the stage, body spasming uncontrollably.

Parts of the building began to flicker in and out of visibility.

Sue lay on the stage, blue eyes wide, one pupil fully dilated, the other a pinprick. Unable to stop shaking. Unable to stop as walls vanished, revealing the street outside. Nissa's skin disappeared for a moment, showing muscles and bone. A helicopter passed overhead, and for a moment the pilot and passengers seemed to be flying through empty space.

"Shit!" Nissa swore as she sped to the stage.

Her breath was shallow. The pulse of her heart, enormous yet erratic, filled her ears. Sue was aware of the fact that she'd lost control of her powers. Everything seemed to press in on her. Naked, she writhed, and around her things flittered in and out of visibility. She heard the crash as two invisible cars hit each other on the street outside. Spider-Man swung past, and for a fraction of a second far more than his secret identity was revealed.

Later, the Invisible Woman would reflect that Mary Jane Watson was a lucky woman.

Nissa hovered over the stripper, layers of her body disappearing. For a moment, Sue saw her brain.

"Fuck fuck fuck, not supposed to happen; that shit's supposed to be pure," Nissa said, her hand finding Sue's pulse by feel. "I need to get help. I'll be...I'll be right back."

Nissa ran. Sue Storm's mouth gawped open, like a fish pulled above the surface. Not sure if help was really coming, or what form it would take.
