Chapter 34
by
TheUnfathomable
What methods shall our great protagonist use?
Start off easy on them
The one in the chair struggled to get a view of me. I walked up and spun the heavy metal chair around, 'praise be to my physical stats being so high.' I finally got a good look at their face, even in the room's shitty lighting. They were this fantasy world's version of a dark elf, whether it be a Drow or otherwise. Their features were hard to read, but I could guess from their voice and build that this was "Smoke", the one who had passed out in fear.
I smiled, "Why hello again, so great to finally see your face." They were shivering and hyperventilating. "Calm down a bit will you? I can't have you passing out again." I took a step back from them, moving so I could see them both. The one on the bed stared at Smoke with a questioning expression. "Did they not tell you? After I knocked you out and killed all your comrades, they fainted before I could have a proper fight with them."
The one on the bed was full glaring at Smoke now, "You cowardly son of a-" As they struggled to free themselves, they got into a coughing fit that seemed extremely painful.
I shook my head in pity, "Let me help you with that." They flinched as I placed my hand on them, casting a low level healing spell, still strong enough to cure their condition for the most part. They looked at me in confusion as I retracted, breathing more smoothly. "Now then, how about introductions?" I looked between the two of them. I was met with a nervous silence. I let out a sigh, "Really? No one wishes to have a civil conversation?" Their continued silence was annoying, so I decided to make a point with the one on the bed.
God's Eye Activated
Shina Redtail
Title: (none)
Race: Cat-folk (0)
Class: lvl 3 Assassin (II)
Opinion of User: Terrified, Confused, Disbelief
I tilted my head at her, "What about you Shina? Nothing to say at all?" Both of them stopped breathing.
They looked to each other before Smoke spoke, "H-how did you-"
I rolled my head exaggeratedly, "My god told me, so how about you cooperate, so I don't have to annoy him because of you?" I glared at Smoke at the end of that, before I shifted my gaze to Shina. "So, miss Redtail, are we going to cooperate?"
She grimaced at me saying her last name. Now that I was looking for it, I could definitely see the marks of a car person on her form, them being previously hidden by the darkness of the room. "Fine, what do you want?"
I considered for a moment, "I believe they want some basic information. Who's your boss, where is your base, how did you know about the young woman's location. You know, baseline stuff."
Smoke spoke from behind me, "What do you mean baseline? That's near all of the information."
I tilted my head, "Huh, really? I would be super disappointed if that was the case."
Shina squinted her eyes at me, "And why would that be?"
I chuckled, "Because I would expect more from the servants of Melanoche and Carnacias."
Her eyes went wide, "You-you know their names?"
I gave a kind yet superior expression, like one would give to a child who asked a question that had an obvious answer. "My god tells me of his siblings, is that strange?"
Smoke scoffed, "Like a god of light would admit their relation to the gods of darkness."
I leaned backwards so I could look at him over my shoulder, "Who said my lord was a god of light?" They both became immensely confused. I put on a slightly angered expression, "My lord Moged-Ruun is not one of those pitiful self-righteous preachers of light and goodness. He is a god of true build, one who embraces the truth of the ugly face of life."
They both seemed afraid of this speech, though I could not figure out why. Shina spoke up, "S-so why are you serving this subject family of the light?"
I glared at her, "I serve no one but my lord." I shook my head and took a deep breath, "Sorry, what I meant to say, was that I am simply doing this as an exchange." I smirked internally, 'A false weakness is the perfect way to win a battle of wits. They will pursue a crack in my armor that doesn't exist, potentially showing their own weak points to get to it.'
Sure enough, Smoke pursued the false lead, "Sorry about her, it just looked like you were another loyal dog for the light faction, like the rest of those fucking pricks."
Shina, however, seemed more wise. "I do apologize, servant of Moged-Ruun." Both me and Smoke were surprised by her quick subservience. "I did not mean to question your loyalty or position."
I raised my eyebrow, "I feel like you have something more to say."
It seems I was correct, as she considered a moment. She then continued, "If it is possible, and not out of my place to request, I would like to speak with your lord." She dipped her head as much as she could in her bound position.
Ooo~, The question is, will he accept?
