Chapter 35 by TheUnfathomable TheUnfathomable

Ooo~, The question is, will he accept?

Why not have some fun?

I was silent for a moment, not knowing quite how to respond. 'I doubt this is some form of test to see if "My lord" is real, but from what I know speaking with gods is not a common occurrence. I suppose I did imply I could speak with mine commonly though, so this is partially my fault.' "Hmm. I suppose I could relay messages back and forth if you wish?"

She shook her head, "No, I request to speak with your god directly, if possible."

I could not hide my curiosity, "And why is that?"

She looked at me with a sincere expression before responding, "Because, I wish to speak to a being that considers the masters of my people its siblings."

I stroked my beard for a few moments in thought, before coming to a conclusion. "I suppose I could try, I can make no promises." 'Now then, how am I going to do this? I could transport them to my domain, but that seems like it could go wrong in a lot of ways. Hmm, then how about...' I nodded, content in my solution.

I closed my eyes and concentrated, also faking a form of ritual. I channeled my Divine power and focused on polymorph. I changed my eyes to match the ones in the Divine mark, feeling it would fit, before changing my idea again. My eyes changed to slits of pure green, while I made an obvious emergence of the Divine mark upon my forehead. I added some slight spasms to sell the effect, before opening my eyes sharply.

I rolled my neck as the two looked at me uneasily. I cracked my back before speaking, "Ough, so this is mortality? It feels... interesting." I made an effort to make my movements slightly unnatural, like a puppet being moved more than someone moving themself.

Shina spoke quietly, "A-are y-you-"

I snapped my head to her with a twisted smile, "Moged-Ruun? Why yes, in the flesh as you say, thought I suppose it would actually be in Mathew's." I examined my hand, not dropping the smile. "So!" I abruptly moved to look at her again. "You wished to speak with me? I am so~ curious as to what could compel a prisoner to ask to speak with the god of your interrogator."

She swallowed, "I understand you see yourself as a sibling to the sisters."

I made an exaggerated bored expression and tilted my head, "Yes, and?"

She took a deep breath, "As a follower of your siblings, I wish to ask fo-"

I gave an immense groan, "Ugh, you're just asking for a bailout or mercy aren't you?" I leaned forward over her, "Let me tell you, I am not a god of virtue or code. My realm is one of earning, of unchecked growth. I show no favorites, at least not to those who do not embrace the paths of growth."

Smoke spoke up, trying to seem confident, "Wh-what's that supposed to mean? You won't help us unless we swear loyalty or some shit?"

I leaned sideways an uncomfortable amount, my head rotating upside-down, so I was face to face with him. "Wrong. I care not if you swear loyalty here, as that displays feebleness, not growth. You see, those who strive for power no matter what they give, I don't care who they follow, I admire those types." I glared. "But then there's the type you seem to be, at least from what I saw through Mathew. You act big, but have no aspirations for power aside from what you are given and what you steal. And, when you were faced with true power, you didn't even put in effort."

Shina interrupted me, "I was not meaning to ask such a cowardly thing."

I leaned back forward to face her, "Then where was your rambling going? I am not one who bother's with theatrics."

She stared at me with steal resolve, "I wish to make a deal."

I stared for a moment, deciding how to react, before bursting out in laughter. She stared at me in slight horror as I regained my composure. "A deal! A deal she says! Ah, you are good with the jokes." I looked her directly in the eyes, "I doubt you have a thing I would want in a deal. Not to mention, the position you're in is most unfavorable, I would have to make a deal in kind."

She cowered slightly, "I have what all men want. If you help us, I will give you myself, for all time."

I dropped my jolly act, "You dare assume I would work for simple pleasures of the flesh from a prisoner?" I grabbed her by the throat, "Had I wanted such a pitiful thing that badly, I would have taken it." I then thought for a moment, before laughing again and letting go. "Not to mention, it is a very bad idea to promise something like that 'for all time.'"

She stared at me in shock, "But-"

I held up a finger, and she went silent. I looked between the two of them, before I had a sickening cruel smile envelope my face. "I~ have a deal." I gave a ghastly chuckle. "How about this? You two, will cooperate. The one who is less useful," I distorted my voice, "Will die." I gave a mad laugh as my voice progressively changed back. "Oh, and if you get any idea of neither of you helping me, you both die. In the most painful way I can bring about."

I looked between them again, Smoke was shaking while looking at me and Shina in terror, while Shina wore a distant expression, seemingly retracted from the current moment. Noticing my looks, Smoke went still, and I wasn't certain he wouldn't pass out again. Shina, however, did not lose her distant look.

I clapped my hands abruptly, "Now then, who wants to talk first?" My grin stretched my face almost painfully as they both looked to each other in fear.

Who will be the one to crack?
