It was the only truly decent thing to do. I felt sick with guilt over how I'd already taken advantage of Angela and maybe a little bad for what I'd done with Jade. Now I knew I could not be trusted with this kind of power. I had already learned that I could not delete the app, but I could, presumably, unmatch myself from the women in my power, couldn't I? So I resolved to to exactly that, while I still had the conscience and will to do so.

Starting with Sandra, my latest match. My better nature looked forward to seeing the relief on her face as soon as she was freed. After all, she was still standing in the sidewalk before me, unmoving and uncertain. Besides, I told myself, she seemed plenty interested in me before making the match. Maybe I could ask her out for real.

I found Sandra's profile and scrolled through the details until I found the very hard to notice option titled “Release Sandra.” I took a deep breath, looked over at her as she stared at me in concern, and clicked.

The app asked for confirmation. “Are you sure you want to release Sandra from your control? If you do so, she will become available to other users of the UDA. Continue to release? or Cancel?”
