Stand and fight

You drop your pack into the water and bring up your bow. You draw, notch, and fire, sending an arrow whistling through the air and striking the beast's hide near one of its large eyes. It roars and continues its charge. You notch and fire again and this time it smashes the arrow from the air with a tentacle. You notch and fire a third time, the creature too large to miss, and the arrow sticks into the base of one of its rubbery tentacles.

Then it is upon you, looming in close and surrounding you with its thrashing tentacles. The bow is yanked from your hands and smashed to kindling. You draw your knife and slice the tip from a tentacle. Another darts in and wraps around the wrist of the hand holding the knife. You grab the tentacle with your free hand and pull, but it will not release. You gasp in fear as you feel tentacles take hold of your ankles. Then another wraps around your free hand. Then a thick tentacle coils around your neck.

You are dragged suddenly towards the creature. Its lips curl and it exposes its many jagged teeth. Your stomach churns in terror as you realize it has easily defeated you. The yellow eyes look at you and you almost think the sound it is making is laughter.
