Reach for your boot knife and cut yourself free

The horrifying swamp beast's thick gray-green tentacles close in around you and you know that you must act quickly if you want to escape. Gusts of hot, stinking air from the monster's fang-lined mouth blow at your clothing and make your eyes water. The creature hold you upside down by your ankle, your skirt flopping up to your waist and your hair hanging beneath you. Rather than screaming or playing dead you bend at the waist and grunt with effort as you reach up to your boot and drag out the small knife.

With a quick slash you slice into the rubbery tentacle. Black blood squirts out and hits your face and blouse, but you saw away. The creature roars and swings you, trying to whip you against a nearby willow to stun you, but it's too late. You slice all the way through the tentacle and the fling meant to stun you instead throws you into the swamp water many feet away.

You thrash in the muck and struggle to your feet, gathering your travel bag from the swamp. Purtrid water runs from your face and saturates your blouse, making the fabric cling to your breasts. When you look up you see that the creature has not given up and is moving quickly, and with surprising quiet, directly towards you. Its many long tentacles writhe above its bulk and its large, yellow eyes stare at you with fury.

There are only three possibilities now. You could attempt to run from the creature, attempt to fight it, or climb one of the many willow trees and hope to escape upwards.
