Squirm off the look, keep quiet and look around

That was a close call. The coat hook just missed your shoulder when the snake demon with far too many hands slapped you against the wall. Thankfully, escaping from the immediate situation is not too tough. You unzip the bio-suit and drop to the floor, school clothes ruffled but otherwise unharmed.

The library seems strange. It isn't just the red fog that swirls around, making it hard to see. The building seems to be slowly transforming, there are thick black vines or cables growing out of the walls. In fact, you don't recall the section of the school being so big.

This part of the library seems to be where they keep the old books. Perhaps they're expensive and rare? Perhaps that's why you've never been in this room before?

Stepping carefully - as the ground now seems oddly rough and uneven - you approach one of the shelves. The tomes are large, bound in leather and many of them seem to be written one or more languages you cannot recognise. Just on the shelf in front of you there are two books you can read the spine off. The first book, black and decorated in gold letters, appears to be written in English and is called "The Old Arts of Summoning". The second book, which looks to be made from a pale brown material, is written in red ink and Japanese. The second book is "Koushagi's Portal".

These both seem like odd books for a school library and yet there appear to be many more of them on the shelves in this room.

But why are you looking at books at a time like this? Isn't escaping a concern? Is the red mist making it that hard to think?
