Sovereign's Flag

The Sovereign's Flag is a 2-meter long pole bearing a thick red cloth flag. On the flag is an heraldic emblem resembling those of medieval houses, but does not match any known design. Once a person is acknowledged as its owner, it emits a normality-field that prevents anyone else from noticing its presence.

Its powers are activated when the current owner impales it into the ground. The pole will phase through the ground through anomalous means and become affixed to it permanently until the owner chooses to remove it. While the flag stands, a small region of space roughly the size of a small house will be considered the "sovereign land" of the owner. Any person within the "sovereign land" spontaneously understands that the owner is the ruler of the region and will automatically obey any laws they might have put forth, even if they have never seen such rules with their own eyes. They will also obey any verbal commands to a reasonable degree, and this effect is much stronger on people that formerly lived in, work, or studied in a "sovereign land". Trespassers may still be inclined to decline and leave the "sovereign land" if the command is too ****.

If the Flag is placed in a building that exceeds the initial size limit, then the "sovereign land" will include a portion of the building. If the Flag is placed in an outdoor area, then the "sovereign land" will be a circular region of flat ground.

The owner may access a holographic, videogame-like menu via a button at the Sovereign's Flag. There, a variety of upgrades for the sovereign land and its subjects can be bought using a virtual currency named Doubloons. The owner will begin with 100 Doubloons and a further weekly stipend of the same amount. Upgrades include changes to the "sovereign land", its subjects, and other surprises.
