South to the forest

Remembering the forest near your old home when you were growing up you decide to head toward the forest. The walk toward the forest is a quiet one and thinking about it you realize that you hear nothing at all. No wind, no animals, no sound at all. It is discomforting to have the world around you be so quiet but considering that this world is supposed to be a prison for all the monsters that get killed by the light its not hard to imagine that the light would waste energy to try and make the the world seem less forbidding. Though why there was a forest or any type of land mass like the stone spires to the north that you had seen wouldn't make sense if that was the case. Or perhaps monsters imprisoned here shaped the realm that they were trapped in? You shrug your shoulders and decide that if you find someone or something you can talk to that you will ask them about it, could be interesting.

Your wondering about the dynamics of the realm appears to have cut short your travel to the forest of dead trees that you now find in front of you. Standing in front of them you see that the trees are more gnarled and twisted than you thought with lots of interlocking branches that ended in sharp points that would undoubtedly be painful to walk into. luckily they are just high enough that a being of average human size like yourself can walk under them. Anything taller though would most definitely have a painful time as a quick poke at one of the trees reveals that they are hard like stone. Reaching up you grab one of the branches and pull down. The branch doesn't budge, maybe they are actually stone and just look like trees?

A quiet hmm escapes you as you let go of the branch and look forward into the shadows of the trees and you realize that the interlocking mess of branches above you does a good job of limiting visibility even more. You take a breath and step into the forest. you came here with a desire to find something to fight and to explore after all. Still no reason to walk into a potentially dangerous situation without some sense of caution. You stop and closing your eyes try and imagine a dark cloak around you. Your assassin class should give you the ability to hide in the shadows and a slight feeling of cold covers you and when you open your eyes the pale white of your arms is now covered in a black mist. You don't resist the smile that appears on your face as you start your walk into the forest you watch your arms and see how the mist seems to make your arm near invisible in the shadows of the tree. It would be near useless in an area that wasn't filled with shadows or cover but it wouldn't make much sense to use an ability like it outside of those conditions anyways. Taking a straight path would be kind of boring so every now and then you make a random right or left turn to see if you can find something.

Apparently Apollyon is bigger than you thought it would be or perhaps emptier as after what you feel is about a half hour of walking you still have yet to run into anything. You keep an eye on your arms and decide that if you don't run into something before the hour long limit on your cloak of shadows runs out you would just leave and try again another time. Though no sooner than the thought crosses your mind do you see an orange light faintly glowing ahead of you. Excited to finally run into something you head toward the light and as it gets brighter you crouch down to help keep yourself hidden. Finally you reach the edge of where you can see the light between the trees and stop. Hiding behind a tree just beyond the edge of the light you look around it and find a clearing, though what is in the clearing is more interesting to you.

Three large creatures you can only assume to be orcs are in the clearing. Each one is round, pig faced and carrying what appears to be a crude club made from what you can only guess is torn from the branches of the trees around you. Each one is also nearly two feet taller than an average human. The orcs are each standing around a fire and you notice there is a fourth form that looks like a grey skinned human woman sleeping next to the fire. You can only assume that the women is a devil considering the glimpse you had gotten of the current demon king and her mage. The horns you can see on her head from here also seem to give it away as well. The orcs appear to be guarding her but the great lugs seem barely awake themselves. Right here is an excellent chance for you to start gaining experience but at the same time you aren't sure how to proceed.

You could just go guns blazing and light them up with light bullets and maybe some other elemental bullets but you aren't sure how much it will take to take them down. Though considering your monster core and your one thousand plus damage with light spells you are fairly confident you can take them down especially with the element of surprise. But you remember you also have the ability to cause status effects. Though you aren't sure if you are capable of hitting multiple targets with any of them. You really should have figured out a way to check what you were capable of before entering this place but no use crying over spilt milk. You should be a tier two sorcerer anyways so sending out multiple paralysis spells should be possible. The demon is an unknown quantity but your light magic should give you the edge and if things seem to be to much you still had your shadow cloak active to run and hide open the gate back and get the hell out of dodge.
