Soul Mates
“Would you like to tell me what’s going on with you, or am I supposed to just guess?” You said to Morgana in a tone you had never used with her before.
“Should I have to tell you what I’m upset about?” Morgana replied in a tone that matched your own.
“So many things have happened in a short time, that I don’t honestly know which thing is making you the most angry. How about we don’t play games with each other, and you just be honest with me.” You said defiantly.
“I am your goddess and your first wife. I got to you first, and you are supposed to be mine.” She said with anger and frustration in her voice.
“I am yours.” You said resolutely. “But I do have others besides you who I am responsible for. I thought you understood that when you gave me permission to sponsor other monster girls. You can’t throw me at other women and then pull back when things get real.”
You could see the anger rising in Morgana as her body took on more of her purple gelatinous form. Her frustration was breaking her control of her body. She looked like the fluids of her slime body were simmering.
“How is it that you are awakened, but you still don’t remember me. Do you understand how long I looked for you?! I sacrificed everything to try and find you again. Now, you don’t even remember me, and you’ve gotten someone else pregnant before me!” Morgana yelled in a way that was uncharacteristic of her. It felt both angry and sad at the same time. You were so confused by what she was saying.
“Remember you?” You were just not understanding what she meant.
“I mean from before! I thought once you’d awakened you’d remember me again. Now…” Morgana began to cry. It was something you’d never seen before, and you couldn’t help but try and comfort her.
You wrapped your arms around her and felt her tears soak into your shirt. “I don’t understand what’s going on, Morgana. Have we met before…I mean before the portal?”
“You really don’t remember…” She sobbed into your chest.
“C’mon. Let's sit over on the bed and talk about it.” You said as you guided her over.
You sat down next to her, refusing to release her from your grip.
“Now tell me what you mean about remembering you.”
Morgana didn’t look at you, but instead kept her face pressed into your chest.
“I was with Asmodeus in the other world. I was his and he was mine. We ruled his territory together. He was my Lord of Lust, and I was his Empress of Desire. We loved each other. When he disappeared, I looked everywhere for him for years. At one point, I learned he had been lost crossing into the new world, so I looked for the portal. I was almost destroyed crossing over, and then I found you. You didn’t look the same, but your smell was so familiar. When we connected, I realized that you were him. It was like fate.”
It was beginning to make sense. Why else would she have clung to you so possessively so quickly after meeting you?
“So are you with me because you thought I’d turn into him?” Your voice was defensive even though you hadn’t meant it to. Feelings of sadness were beginning to well up inside you. Had all her feelings just been a ploy to keep you near until she could get her old lover back?
“No! That’s not what I meant, I swear! I don’t love you because you are like him or he’s living inside you. You are him, his reincarnation.” Morgana pleaded. “Your body doesn’t matter, inside you are my soulmate, and I have loved you for centuries. You are just like how you were when I met you in the old world: kind, devoted, a bit prone to melancholy, but confident and wonderful. I was drawn to you because of my instincts, but after all our years apart, I fell in love with you all over again. That’s why I’ve been so possessive. It’s why I got so angry when you said Lexi was allowed to have babies but I couldn’t. I don’t want to lose you again. I don’t want you putting anyone ahead of me. I love you so much.”
Morgana sobbed into your chest. The sincerity, vulnerability, and sheer shock of her uncharacteristic behavior dampened any anger that had started to form within you.
“You know, you are special to me. I spent this whole time with Lexi, and I love her, but the minute I saw you walk in the door I felt calmer. You and I are connected in a way I cannot describe. I may not have Asmodeus’ memories, but I have my own feelings about you that surpass any others I’ve ever felt. I’m sorry I can’t remember from before. All I can do is promise to love you, cherish you, and make new memories. Lexi said that I will likely live for hundreds or even thousands of years. I want you with me for all the time I have.”
You picked up her dripping face to stare into her pink eyes, and planted a loving kiss on her lips. The kiss lingered. You could feel the hunger building up in you, but you resolved to ensure this kiss was one of pure affection. It was Morgana who pressed harder, as if ending the kiss might make you disappear. There was a desperation to it that made you wonder just how much she had endured to find the person she loved most in the world. You wouldn’t allow anything like that to happen again. You didn’t know exactly who Asmodeus was in his former life, but what you did know was that he left Morgana alone. You would not be the same.
“Why did he…I leave?” You asked.
“When the portal opened, he saw it as an opportunity to escape from the endless wars with the other lords and heaven. He planned to take us with him. No one knew what the other side was like. The other lords sent subordinates to scout it out, but they didn’t come back. Asmodeus refused to let any of us come to harm, so he was determined to go himself. After that, we never heard back from him. Many thought he had been destroyed since the marks of servitude had vanished. I didn’t want to believe it, so while others defected in his absence, I set out to find you myself.”
It was a lot of information to process, but you could understand Morgana’s frustration.
“You must have really loved him to go through all that. The truth is, I don’t remember things from before this life. I’ve had some dreams…ones that seem real, but not really true memories. Maybe they’ll come back over time. Even if they don’t, I do know down to my core that you are someone very special to me. You feel like the other half of me, and my life never felt so full until you and I got together.”
Morgana latched onto you tightly, burying her face into your chest. You held her there for some time with no words being exchanged further. It wasn’t until you sensed her emotions had eased back down that you spoke again.
“Are you and I okay, Morgana?” You spoke in a gentle voice.
“Yes, my love. I’m sorry for how I was acting.” She said in a voice more reserved than usual.
“I have no idea the lengths you’ve gone to be here with me. All I know is that I love you. Be patient with me, and I will make sure that all your sacrifices were worth it. I’m not the devil you knew. I don’t have his memories, but thank you. Thank you for your loyalty and your love.”
You kissed her with love and affection, which she returned with vigor.
“Anything for you, Asmodeus.” She said softly before kissing you again.
After a few more moments of mutual affection and words of affirmation, you steered the conversation back to the practical.
“Not to ruin the mood, but we do need to talk about pregnancy, Morgana.” You said after pulling away from a kiss. “The only way I can do that for you right now is to put my mark on you. If I do that, then you become my ****. Lexi chose what she chose. Having powerful children is her ambition as a devil. To her, the cost doesn’t matter. You saw how she has to obey everything I say. Were you marked before? Can you honestly say that’s what you want for yourself?”
“No. I was not marked. Asmodeus didn’t feel right marking me.”
“I don’t either. A goddess does not become the **** of a prince, right. I don’t want that for you, and you don't want it for yourself. I know it because we are connected in a different and special way. If we decide we want kids, we’re only talking about waiting 9 months for the AWIO spell to be removed. Compared to all the time we have together, it’s not really that long to wait.”
“It’s hard for me to wait. Last time, we never did because it was dangerous in the old world, and Asmodeus was afraid any children might become targets in the war. Then he left, and I was all alone.”
Morgana looked sad and scared as she crossed her arms to comfort herself. Instinctually, you hugged her tightly, resting your chin on her head.
“It’s okay. I’m not going anywhere. I promise.”
Morgana’s tentacles wrapped around you tightly, refusing to let you go. You gave her a kiss that was both tender and intimate. You had no intention of removing yourself from her grasp…ever.
“Tell me about him…Asmodeus. What was he like?”
