Who do we see?

Skye Favel

Chapter 4 by Djinn-Drinka Djinn-Drinka

Skye was picking her way carefully through the forest, not wanting to call too much attention to herself if there were dangerous people around. The bard had been travelling around small towns to gather folk songs and explore different ways people expressed themselves with music. She could have stayed in town and done what she had in every other small town, but she didn’t.

There was a party of adventurers, one that Skye had been assumed to be a part of, that had just left for a quest. There were brave adventurers, dastardly villains, and maidens to save. It sounded like one of the many songs Skye had learned over the years.

Those songs had been written long ago, bringing nostalgia instead of hope and joy. This song had yet the be written. An party of adventurers just leaving to rescue kidnapped maidens. Skye had the opportunity to see the inspiration for past songs with her own two eyes. She had the opportunity to be the one to write one!

Despite her excitement, Skye stepped carefully. She was not skilled with trekking through the wilderness, her long skirt was catching every errant branch. She was smart enough to wear trousers under it, but she didn’t want to destroy her clothes. The longer she trekked the more worried she became that she wouldn’t make it in time to see the adventure.

Just as she became worried that she wasn’t hearing any combat or talking, she spotted a break inn the wood line. A clearing that she could use to get her bearings! Skye moved quickly over to it, skirt catching on another branch at the last moment. Skye took a moment to unstick herself and so she had stepped into the clearing before she saw what was in it.
