Sick

A few moments after you ope you eyes Carrie gets up and staggers to the bathroom. She looks pale and sweaty. Moments after the door closes you hear the sound of puking.

You get up up and head to the bathroom door.

“Are you ok in there?”

“Feel sick.” She answers in a voice so quiet you can barely hear it.

You step inside. It is dark. You flick on the light.

“Fuck! Too bright. Too bright.”

You turn the light back off.

“How can I help you, Carrie?”

“Water.”

You go back to the kitchen and grab her a glass of water.

She is sitting by the toilet looking pale and sweaty. You hand her the water. She takes a sip and then wretches again.

“I think we need to get you to a hospital.”

“No! I don’t think that will help, Nick. Nick, look at me.”

You look at her.

“Whatever you do, whatever I say, don’t let me take off this cross. Can you take me to see Father Michael?”

“Of course, Carrie.”

You grab her a pair of sunglasses and wrap her arm around your shoulder you manage to get her to the car where she collapses into the front seat.

You drive her to the nearby church. You help her out of the car. Despite the sunglasses she squints and looks down.

You reach the threshold to the church and Carrie digs in her heels, preventing you from entering.

“You ok?”

“No, this hurts.”

“You can do it.”

She grimaced as she steps inside. You quickly find father Michael.

“Carrie, what happened, my child?”

“Went to rescue Nick and something weird happened. I don’t remember much.”

The priest eyes her neck.

“How long have you had those puncture wounds?”

“Pretty much since this started.”

“This may sound a bit crazy, but could you have been bitten by a vampire?”

Carrie frowns. “They’re not real. It can’t be…”

The priest takes a finger and pushes up her lips. Her canines are oddly long.

“If this was a vampire, Father, how can we cure her?”

He laughs. “I don’t know much more than you, Nick. But, if movies are to be believed, you need to kill the vampire that bit her before she takes a life.”

“This is crazy.”

“No, Nick, it’s not. I remember Vespa’s eyes glowing.”

“So you know who bit you, Carrie?”

“Yes, but Nick isn’t going to like it.”

“Father, can you keep a watch on her while I go back to The Company?”

“Of course. She’ll be safe at the church.”

You exit the church and head back to The Company.
