Chapter 10 by SingingLark SingingLark

So Liandra is in the faerie market. What will she do?

Shopping!

Such amazing sight! everything around her was fantastic. From the hawkers peddling fabulous wares to the exotic buyers. Each more alien then the next. There were elves, pixies, trolls, satyrs, orcs, demons, angels. She even saw a moving tree and a centaur in the crowd! Liandra had never seen so many, and her curiosity easily trumped the cautious words of wisdom her nanny had given her before.

The dazzled princess wondered for a while, at times hearing the fabulous claims of the different sellers, at others just watching people haggle. They peddled such absurd wares! A salve to cure chicken pox, wine to give a sheep's courage, a sword that can cut through an unbreakable shield.

She was walking by when she saw simply the most gorgeous dress she had ever laid her eyes on. It was an azure blue, but there was something strange with the fabric. The colours swirled, like waves. "Did you see something that caught your eye, princess?" The person addressing her was a gnome, a small person about half her size and with large nose and ears, he appeared to her as a very kind, honest man.

"Oh, do you know who I am?" Liandra was quite surprised, she couldnt imagine she stood out in such a diverse crowd. But the gnome explained "No, but my store is very exclusive, and only pure hearted princess can see it. I see you noticed the Ocean Gown. It is quite rare, for it is woven with the tides of the sea and the pearls washed ashore."

"I imagine it must cost a fortune" Liandra was truly taken by the dress, and already felt sorry for leaving it behind. "Seeing as the only customers i ever get are pure hearted princesses, i don't happen to get a lot of customers." The gnome said with a big smile. He didn't appear to have a problem with it. "Two strands of your hair." He proclaimed afterward.

Liandra was taken aback. "Why would you want such a thing?"

"To weave more dresses, of course. There is nothing like royal hair to weave a gown, and with one such as yours I would be able to make a golden dress, even the princess of angels would come buy it at my store."

Well, she had so many hairs, and it would grow back anyways. "deal" and so Liandra tried her new dress. She was amazed at how smooth and fresh it was. The sensation was quite close to bathing at the sea in a warm sunny day.

Next she walked by a jeweler, and was taken for a silver tiara. Gaining some confidence, she asked him for the price, and walked away with it. Such a silly thing to ask for, a word from her mouth.

Shoes were next, a pair of high heels, red shoes that would make her the finest dancer in the faerie fair. The seller was a tall, handsome elf, and when the gallant shoemaker simply asked for her first kiss, she was more than glad to meet his price.

"Princess, then let me give you an advice. Make sure before the fair is over to make true all your old debts, else you risk paying far more then you intended when the morrow comes!"

"Thank you... then let me repay your advice with an invitation. If you come to my father's table, I will ask him to sit you in a place of honor." The elf laughed, and agreed she paid his advice in full.

Does Liandra remember about the dagger? Or should she continue to enjoy herself at the fair?
