She refused.

"I must say I am very impressed with your thoroughness, master," Marlissa said, looking up from the piece of paper to the young archaeologist.

"Will you agree to the conditions as set out in the pact?" he asked, ignoring her compliment. Ryan knew that despite the pentagram nullifying her magical powers her glowing emerald green eyes and smirk had an effect on him.

"To be with you as your companion for the rest of your natural life is quite the long term commitment, master," Marlissa replied.

"But for an immortal demoness it is quite short," Ryan corrected her. Even if he lived to be a hundred years old and was in good health, the succubus would look like a young woman in her 20s and physically unhindered by the forces of aging.

The succubus looked at him again, raising an arched eyebrow as she studied the mortal.

"Well...?" Ryan hoped she wasn't delaying to bid time to find a possible loophole in the pact.

Marlissa shook her head.

Ryan was disappointed but not entirely surprised. Some of the past minor demons he had summoned refused to agree to his pacts, mostly out of arrogance that a mortal could bind and command an immortal. He had no intention of dismissing Marlissa, unlike the other disobedient demons because he had worked to long and hard prepare for this day.

"Hul-dim, hul-gál!" he yelled out. Marlissa fell to the floor in a fetal position, screaming in pain. Ryan was never a violent person but he constantly reminded himself that what he summoned weren't animals nor people but demons, creatures of an ill forgotten plane of existence that would tear him to shred if they weren't shackled by the magic circles.

"Dismiss me..." Marlissa begged, clutching her belly as she got up to her knees. "Please master..."

"Agree to the pact!" Ryan demanded.
