What clothing did Alex forget to wear?

She forgot to wear pants

To Alex’s credit, even unfocused she’d managed to get herself almost dressed. Somehow putting together shoes, socks, underwear and more surprisingly a well button up white shirt, but as she stepped out into the sun and down the road, her pale legs were in plain view of everyone she passed by. She’d forgotten to wear pants.

“Huh?” Was the natural response most people shared as this young woman with no pants on passed them by. Most chopped it up to the fact her shirt was long enough to cover her butt and figured she must’ve been wearing short shorts. Others simply didn't care and went about their day.

The dark haired woman didn’t notice the stares or comments as she was so entranced in her book, she was only 2 chapters away from finishing.

Alex also didn’t notice she was walking right onto fresh cement that was closed off by bright red tape. Her right foot stepped onto it, soon followed by the left. But as she raised her right foot her shoe didn’t follow, stuck to the wet cement, same as the left as she continued walking, her socks soon follow and she was now walking barefoot.

A normal person would've felt uncomfortable with their bare feet walking on sidewalk, the heat unbearable, and the gravel a bit painful, but Alex only turned to the next page oblivious by her lack of footwear.
