She Waits

She looks at the path one more time, then seems to come to a decision. She stands up straight and waits.

You approach her. “Hi, theses are my friends, Warren, Jake, and Derrick. The girls are Kristen, Maya, Megan, and Amanda, what’s your name?”

She looks timid and frightened. “I’m Sara.”

“So, Sarah, what brings you here?”

“I had to get away. I went to camp here when I was a kid. It seemed…”

She trails off.

“What happened to you, Sarah?”

She starts to cry. “It…it was my boyfriend. I came home to him fucking my mom on the kitchen table. Only it wasn’t him anymore. He was just a lust crazed monster. Then my mom looked up at me and licked her lips. She said I should join them! Oh, God…”

She begins sobbing uncontrollably.

You notice her necklace is a small pentagram with a ruby set in the center. It’s a troubling piece of jewelry.

“Sarah, can I see your necklace?”

She looks at you, her eyes red, tears streaming down her face.

“No! It was the last thing he gave me before…” She resumes sobbing. “It’s the only thing I have to remember him how he was.”

You nod and motion to Maya. Maya walks to her and puts a comforting arm around her. She lets her cross slip out and touch Sarah’s shoulder.

For just a moment you expect screaming, but the cross just sits there. You breath a sigh of relief.

“Why don’t we all head back to the camp. Sarah, I’m sure Kristen and Megan will let you hang with them.”

Sarah nods and you begin the slow walk back to camp.

As you reach the cabins, you speak up.

“We should stay together, one girls cabin, one boys, it will be safer.”

Amanda gives you a glare, clearly she was hoping to have some alone time with Derek.

The girls pick their cabin and you pick yours. Your group settles in for the night…
