Chapter 7

Is Hannah being honest with her, or does she just think Jenna's that trusting?

She's being honest

Hannah gently caressed Jenna's cheek, and in that moment Jenna could remember little fragments of their previous talks, the smiles in the band room, the immediate check-in texts whenever she wasn't in class, casual brush-ups against her and the friendly touches that she only just realized were never just friendly. She gazed into Hannah's eyes, soaking in the sight of her as the realization sunk in that the clarinetist had been flirting with her for months and she had never even noticed.

"You're cute too," Jenna admitted, the **** doing wonders to short-circuit her anxiety in that moment. Then, not thinking about the consequences of what she was doing for the first time in a long, long time, she kissed Hannah. And Hannah kissed her back. She felt the soft warmth of her friend's - date's? girlfriend's? lover's? - body against hers as they snuggled up on the pool house couch.

For what felt like an eternity and a fraction of a second all at once, they contented themselves with kissing softly in each other's arms. Hannah's lips tastes like peppermint and strawberry, and she knew she'd never forget that taste. Jenna could barely think, her mind focusing on the tiniest details: the way Hannah's body shifted underneath her as they kissed, the feeling of her long hair against the back of her hand as she brushed it away from her face, even the way her glasses tilted and pressed against her face before her friend took them off her.

It took her a moment to realize that Hannah's hand had started to slip under her shirt, that her friend wanted more than just kisses.

How far does she let Hannah go?
