Set Sail for Constantinople (Backstory cont.)

Through the in-law’s connections I got into the prince’s kitchen. And soon I was syphoning off what little I could. The odd groat here, a piece of silver there. Accepting bribes for giving out extra rations.

We sailed around the Golden Horn and disembarked outside the giant walls on Constantinople. The gigantic capital of the Byzantine Empire and the centre of Eastern Christianity. The Greeks were too scared to let us all in to the city. So Frankish army of two thousand camped outside. Over the next week or two we were joined by the other armies of the Cross including the lazy Latins.

By the time we were ready to march, our combined Christian **** stretched as far as a man could see.

And that’s not to mention the Greek army who will march at our side in all their fancy armour and colourful capes and robes. Arse fuckers, the lot of them.

As we marched to retake Nicea… We felt undefeatable

And so it proved. Within a month the walled city of Nicea fell. With success came plunder and women, most of whom were unwilling - but that’s just the spoils of war. However, forgive me for not yet going into sordid details. It’s on purpose, as my story has only just begun. There is a very special princess to plunder. But like all virgins, it takes a little time to warm up.

The Prince didn’t stop at Nicea. No. We marched through Antolia towards the great city of Antioch. The Greeks stayed behind to garrison Nicea. Leaving the prize of Antioch to us Franks, and the Latins.
