Chapter 19 by Sarckle Sarckle

Hide? Or seek?

Seek

There has to be something you can use to beat the pursuing vampires. You grab a knife from a butcher block and throw it at the vampire, as Sarah and Jen are making their way through the window. The knife stops midair, the blade stuck between her thumb and finger. She pinched the blade out of the air. The knife whizzes back towards you, impaling the wall in a narrow miss.

Your brain races trying to find anything that could help. You tried a wooden stake outside but didn’t have the ability to follow through. The sun won’t be up for hours, or maybe ever with the sky in its current state. A cross? You don’t even know where you could find one. You open a cabinet, salt? You remember people using salt against some kind of monster, but was it vampires? Or was it some kind of demon or ghost?

You figure it’s worth a shot. You fling the salt canister spraying salt across the room. The grains bounce off the three vampiric ladies. That’s a no, salt isn’t effective against vampires. In desperation you throw the canister at them, hoping to slow them down in any way. The canister explodes against the wall as the vampire slaps it aside. You panic and grab another canister from the cabinet.

Throwing it at them, it is batted aside exploding in a cloud of red against another wall. The smell of cinnamon filling the room. Another canister, same result. They knock it into the ceiling this time. A white cloud spraying down upon them. You cup your ears as the vampires let out a blood curdling screech. What is happening?

Then you smell it, garlic powder. The last canister was filled with garlic. The vampires drop to their hands and knees in the kitchen. This is your chance to end it. You look around for anything wooden. You grab a wooden spoon from the counter and make your way to the vampires. Not giving them a chance to recover, you plunge the handle of the spoon into the head vampire’s chest. She lets out a final gasp before disappearing in a puff of smoke.

Sarah and Jen cry in agony as they watch their ‘Mistress’ disappear. You stop for a second, can you really stake your friends? “We’ll kill you for that,” Sarah hisses trying to push through the garlic induced pain. The look of anger and hatred on their faces **** you to realize they aren’t your friends any more, they are just two more monsters stopping you from saving the world. You quickly plunge the spoon into them, and you’re now alone in the kitchen.

You walk back into the lobby of the Lakeside Suite. The orgy has stopped. Several members passed out on the floor. A few guys stand around an ice machine, trying to ice their junk. You walk through the dispersing crowd. Watching as many search for their clothing in the huge pile of discarded garments. You leave them to figure it out and step back into the park.

As you step out the doors of the Lakeside Suite, your ring flashes the familiar blinding light. You are once again holding your bat and dressed in your familiar clothing. With the detour over with, you look back to the tower ready to finish your task.

What’s your next step?
