Season 1 Finale - Fading

‘Wow, Aclysia herself.’ The voice in Ulal’s head says. “Indeed.” He says as he steps up the steep stone in front of him. The Wekgrond might not be a particularly impressive mountain but it is still a mountain. Luckily Ulal isn’t actually looking to climb all the way up, no he is going to a cliff, a secondary peek so to say. That will be more than enough for his endeavour.

‘But ACTUALLY Aclysia.’ The voice repeats. Ulal rolls his eyes, “I get it, Uklag. Do have anything of substance to add to my thoughts or are you just here to annoy me?” ‘Well, I am just grasping on my last moments as a conscious being here.’ Uklag snaps back, ‘You should be respectful to your elders.’

“I don’t know if you classify as my elder, technically I am Jalkal as well after all.” The voice in his head chuckles, ‘Technically I am you so that makes me Jalkal as well. This whole things is pretty weird as it stands.’ Ulal smiles as he jumps up a two metre slope. “Indeed it is.”

They walk in silence. “Uklag?” ‘Yes?’ “Are you afraid of death?” Silence again, ‘Difficult. Technically, I am already dead.’ Uklag answers. “Doesn’t answer my question.” The air gets progressively colder from both height and the setting sun but the Demonmagus barely notices it.

‘That is because I can’t give it to you.’ Uklag says in a serious voice, ‘We both know I am already gone. All I do is make sure that my last will is abided by then I will fade into the rest of us.’ Ulal walks for a little while longer before arriving at his goal.

The jewel in his right hand he stops at the cliff. The air up here is clear, cold and a bit thinner. Far to his right he can see the light of Brikstrat in the darkness. Below him a couple of torches, likely his own people. “Yes, this will suffice. Will it not, Uklag?” The voice doesn’t answer, Ulal smiles. “And so ends his legend.”

He holds the jewel up into the air and begins to siphon as much energy as he can spare into it. “Soon mine begins.”
