The fall doesn't look like it'd be long enough to be fatal, but the top of the walkway is concrete and the distance still looks to be too long to be safe, you'd definitely be risking injuring your leg at the very least. You could try to find another access point back into the mall closer to the garage, but aren't sure if it would be wise to go back inside there, even if you'd be emerging in a less frequented employee only area, where other survivors may even have successfully hidden.
