"That is... Fascinating!" Dan leaned in a little too close to Alice for her comfort, making her fall onto her ass. "Do you really think it's that ring you bought? Or maybe something in your tea? Maybe you were targetted by a government space lazer!?"

"W-Wouldn't know if what it was specifically... Um... Mind backing up a bit, your breath is a little humid and getting me wet."

"Oh, right! Sorry, let me get you something to dry off!" Dan zoomed away from her just as fast as he zoomed in, breaking off a paper towel.

"Thank you, Danny."

"I prefer Dan actually, I haven't gone by Danny since high school."

"Oh, sorry. I didn't mea-"

"No no, your fin." The silence that followed was appropriately awkward, seeing as a man was sitting in front of a woman clothed in nothing but a paper towel. "I... Suppose I should go collect everything from around where you shrunk. I am a scientist, I could figure out how this happened to you."

"To fix me, right? Sorry to be a bother, but being a little Alice doll is not how I saw myself spending the foreseeable future." Dan might not have been outwardly abusive or hostile, but Alice was reasonably concerned about being nothing but a curiosity or experiment to the only person who knows about her situation.
