Rules, Safety, and Reporting
Rules, safety, and reporting
CHYOA is a collaborative site, so every reader and author should know the content rules and the community standards before participating.
Choose Rules for the requirements that apply to stories and chapters. Choose Code of Conduct for expectations that apply when interacting with other people.
Report a chapter
Use Report chapter in the chapter actions when a published chapter appears to break the rules. Include a short, specific explanation so the site team can understand what needs attention.
Reporting is not a dislike button. Differences in taste, writing style, or story direction are better handled by leaving constructive feedback or choosing another branch.
If an active Game Mode story behaves incorrectly, use Report game mode error instead. That report goes to the story's Owner and collaborators assigned an Owner or Editor role, not the site team, and requires your permission to include a copy of the current Save Game.
CHYOA sends a system notification to the story's current Owner and Editors. They can open Game mode reports from the linked story title, the profile menu, or the Library, then select Load Save Game to investigate the copy. Assistant Editors, Reviewers, and Authors cannot access these reports through those roles.
After you report
Game Mode errors and rule reports have different reviewers. Eligible story Owners and Editors review Game Mode errors privately, while the site team reviews rule reports privately.
For a rule report, a team member may start a conversation with you in Messages if they need clarification or want to explain the outcome. If the review confirms at least one concern from your report, CHYOA may also send you a site notification.
Other kinds of help
- For an account or site problem, use the help routes described under Account and Help.
- For copyright concerns or intimate-image removal requests, use the relevant page under Legal Policies.
