Rogue: Rope of entanglement (mishap)
ROGUE, relishing in her quips and the rest of the table's muted groans: I appraise the rope dangling by my side and fold my arms with a knowing smirk. "I bet you anticipated us being a bit... 'in a bind' over this challenge, but it's ‘knot’ hard to untie this. Now just trust me, we won’t be 'ensnared' by your little mystery for much longer, so you better fasten your seatbelt and-" wait, do they have seatbelts in this dnd setting? "...hold on to your breeches- I mean skirt!"
BARD, whispering: What is she doing...?
SORCERER, whispering back: I'm pretty sure she's laying the groundwork to use her Rope of Entanglement. You know, the one we got in that brothel heist you can animate to restrain people.
ROGUE, laying it on thick: "Anyway, don't get your panties in a tangle, because-"
DM interrupts: >ahem< The rope of entanglement hears its command phrase - 'fasten' - and springs to life. The strands lash forward and begin to coil, and since it's unattended it'll begin seeking the nearest target. Rogue, please roll a Dexterity saving throw!
ROGUE: Wait, fuck! It’s attacking me?! I wasn't ready yet!
DM: Alas, you said the command phrase. And since it's unattended (you need to hold onto one end of the rope and direct it towards someone else) and overheard your pun mid-sentence, the rope considers you its primary target.
The table ripples with laughter at the unintended snafu, as the rogue quickly scans the item card. Shit, she did say 'fasten your seatbelt', didn't she! An unforced error! The rogue snaps up a die to roll a Dexterity save, and her confidence in the height of her dexterity stat soon proves misplaced as the roll concludes in the low single digits.
DM: The rope suddenly snakes from around the rogue’s midsection with a mind of its own. In an instant, it tangles around your limbs, forcing your legs apart as different ends lash toward nearby support pillars. Other strands spiral around your wrists and whip upward, pulling your arms above your head and securing them to a rafter above. The rope cinches tightly, and with a sudden lurch, it hoists you one or two feet off the ground, suspended in a precarious tangle. The barmaid, having recovered from her initial surprise, approaches with a mischievous smirk. ”Well, well,” she purrs, suppressing a chuckle, ”you’re like a fly caught in a web.”
A few minutes later, bard and sorcerer, you notice the barmaid leave the backroom, returning to her duties in the main tavern. She wears a big grin on her face but there’s no sign of the rogue.
BARD: ”… Do you think they had sex? I mean she looks pretty satisfied!”
SORCERER: ”Uhm. Then where’s our rogue? Should we take a look? She’s been gone for a few minutes… Or maybe we should give her a little longer, w- whatever she’s doing.”
BARD: ”Maybe they had a fight. I just want to see the aftermath. Come on, it’ll be quick and quiet.”
DM: You edge toward the backroom door, slipping inside as silently as possible beneath the noise of the tavern. Sorcerer, with your passive perception you notice the barmaid glancing your way, but she doesn’t intervene to stop you. The two of you quickly sneak through the door
There, still suspended from the rafters, you find the rogue. She’s been stripped down to her socks, naked from head to ankle, her bare breasts gently jiggling with every exertion as she struggles against the ropes. Her bra has been twisted up and tightly clasped behind her head to serve as a makeshift gag, while her panties have been placed over her head as a further humiliating insult, the waistband snapped across her forehead. She can merely muffle unintelligibly against the gag.
ROGUE: >Buries her head in her hands in shame<
BARD, nodding: ”Yup. They totally had sex.”
