{endif}Amelias bitterness was the same, that slumbered in your heart. You wanted to comfort her. At the same time it was clear to you, that money doesn’t just appear out of nowhere. You weigh your words carefully: “Look, I understand how you feel. I’ll … I’ll try to make the situation better. I can’t promise you anything though.”

She seemed to straighten up a little bit. Her face showed a faint smile, shallow and weak, but also genuine. “I know that you don’t have it easy either, Tarian … thanks for being there for me.” She came close to you and pulled you into a hug. “I’m happy, that you are here.”

As kind as her words were, they left a lump in your throat.

It dawns on you, that any strive, any pursue of happiness would always have led both of you here. Both of your lives are interwoven. You pursue your way to support her and she pursues her way to be able to support you. It’s what has saved you as well as what has caged you.

“By the by”, Amelia interrupted your thoughts, “General Marius has asked for you.”

You groan. “This can't be good. So far he hasn't meddled, but Lilleth said that he might.”

“You don’t know that yet, forbidden love.”, Amelia responded.

“Yes, I do. And so do you.”

A bit of silence followed. You both realize, that the moment was over.

“Anyways, I think I’m gonna leave you to it now. Thanks, Tarian.” Your forbidden love looks into your eyes. It’s been years, since you’ve seen her so mellow. She gives you a last hug and gets up. "Since you've never been there, you can find Marius' office on the upper levels of the castle. You'll know the door, when you see it."

You shout a quick "Thanks", as she leaves the room. You probably shouldn't put off visiting Marius for too long.
