Restless Night

My eyes shot open when I felt a lurching feeling. I could feel movement under me and as quickly as I could, I grabbed Alice and jumped out of the hammock and out of the shelter.

Looking behind us I saw the bonfire-like pile that remained of the shelter I’d put hard work into building.

I sighed and looked at Alice, who was still somehow fast asleep in my arms. I placed her on the ground by the smouldering embers of the fire before I added some wood and gently blew on the red coals until a flame appeared.

I pinched the bridge of my nose and looked at the ruin, then strode over. Looking at it there wasn’t really anything I could do, not at this time of night anyway. Instead, I managed to worm my way into the pile and pull out the blanket we had with us.

I laid by Alice and covered the two of us with it. Five minutes passed, ten minutes passed, twenty minutes passed before I finally sat up, realising I wasn’t going to get back to sleep.

Being under the covers for that long I could feel how warm it had been so instead I decided to try making Alice more comfortable. I folded the blanket up into a pillow, and placed both it and Alice’s head on my lap.

I gazed into the fire while stroking Alice’s hair. ’Okay so, when the sun comes up, we’ll get breakfast then I’m going to start pulling everything out of our ruined shelter. If I dig a deeper channel around the edge of the pit, maybe a foot or two as like a foundation type thing then it should make the walls stronger. Not only that but the bamboo we attached the hammock to should be reinforced and tied to something stronger like one of the trees…’

I nodded to myself. Alice murmured in her sleep which made me silently laugh and brought a smile to my face. Of course, after a while my eyes began to flicker down to her body, she was so beautiful and had a perfect figure.

Soon enough though the sun began to rise and despite the tree cover our new camp benefited from, the bright sun still filtered through enough to stir Alice out of rest.

When she was half-awake, she looked up at me in confusion. “Uh… morning?”

I smiled. “Morning.”

She sat up still confused. “Uh, what’s going on?”

“Oh, well. Uh, the shelter might have collapsed in the night. You didn’t wake up so I tried to make you comfortable.” I explained.

She looked over to the rubble. “Oh my god! If you weren’t here it would have probably collapsed onto me.”

Before I could point out that the shelter wouldn’t have even been built if it wasn’t for me, Alice jumped at me wrapping her arms around my torso and causing me to fall onto my back with her on top of me.

I couldn’t think of anything to say but it felt good having Alice not mad at me. I wrapped my arms around her and the two of us laid in an embrace. Neither of us said anything… That was ruined when my mind wandered again and I noticed I felt her nipples pressing against me. I could feel myself getting aroused, so I tried to subtly hint that the hug should end by loosening my grip on her but she only hugged me tighter.
