Chapter 998 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Register.

An area behind the stage, surrounded by curtains as to hide from the other guests, has become one of the most intense, uncomfortable, yet exciting places to perhaps ever exist. Those who follow each Demon King stand staring at one another. While you imagine you weren't the only one to leave half behind, and everybody has selected their seven, seeing even a handful of each **** all within a confined space makes you concerned. If a fight were to break out, it would be catastrophic. Yet at the same time, the elven musician stands confidently in the center of it all with a beautiful smile on her face as if she isn't remotely worried. One by one, each is registered, yet there's still no sign of Elok Daven despite his people being present. For better or for worse, however, each Demon King is now going to have quite a lot of knowledge about each side, or at least about seven or so of each side's forces, down to their names.

Team A

Captain. Elok Daven (Elf): He's still not present, but you imagine you'll be seeing him sooner than later, whether you like it or not. Since meeting him long ago, you've had to live with him living in your shadow all this time, having made you what you are, and his people are the reason you're even in Abso to begin with. He often dresses very well, including a number of rings around his fingers, and he slicks back his short, blond hair. As an elf, his ears comes to points, his skin is flawless, and he has a piercing violet gaze.
1. Meti (Jinn): She's a mysterious, almost alien being to you, having met no other jinns before. She possesses the ability to store and recall a treasure hoard of items, which is also why her people are so rare--being hunted for loot. She has pale red hair, nearly white, which is long but tied back into a ponytail with blue beads. She has long ears, similar to an elf's, though they hang down slightly lower, and she has a third eye on her forehead as well--all of which are red, which reminds you of Niki, especially with a matching skin tone. She dresses like a belly dancer, with a blue bikini-like top clasped by a silver sun, translucent fabric adorning her arms which fate to white, held by silver rings, and a similar bathing-suit-type bottom with translucent pant legs which fade to white as well, and start past her thighs. On her feet, silver shoes with curled tips.
2. Breiah (Human): This woman still makes you incredibly uncomfortable, as she's the one who first kidnapped you from your home. Vivi definitely has a strange family. Older than she appears, she seems to function as some sort of scientist or laboratory assistant to Elok, yet you can't quite tell. You know you were told way back that she was trying to make a man into a Demon King, and you can't quite read her intentions. Something tells you there's more going on regardless. She has a face similar to Vivi's which extends to her snow-white hair tied into pigtails. Her skin is pale, which doesn't contrast well to her lab coat of the same colour. Beneath that, a black button-up top, and blow that, a pencil skirt. White stockings reach up to her thighs.
3. ALICE (Golem): One of many. She looks so similar to the Alice you know, yet you can tell straight away she isn't the same. You still can't quite tell whether or not these ALICEs have a similar level of self-awareness or not. Just like your companion, she has skin almost like a wooden doll with visible joints where you know she can separate. Her hair is green, and she has vibrant cyan eyes. As for attire, she's dressed in brown and white adventurer-like garb with a tunic and a short blade on her side. While it isn't the same, the similarity to Alice's outfit causes you to wonder if he's just messing with you now.
4. Anastasia Phairgem (Human): An adventurer from Varat, supposedly, and also the cleric who threatened your favourite ghost. While you don't know a lot about her, you did manage to interrogate her rather easily once she fell prey to the power of Niki's magic shield. She wears a modest, more realistic suit of metal, and is armed with a shield and mace. Hooked to her belt by a chain is an ornate golden censer. However, she's also a beautiful young woman with chestnut eyes and red hair more vibrant than you've ever seen.
5. Ariusia (Mantidae Insectrin): A new girl? You can tell straight away that she's an insectrin, and you overhear the rest. There's something inherently intimidating about this girl, much like Dajy, and she's tall as well. She moves with confidence and her emerald gaze is piercing. She has pale green skin. Her hair is a much darker shade and reaches past her shoulders. In her mouth, you can see that her canines are sharp and pronounced, much like a vampire, and atop her head are two long, thin antennae. While her arms are ordinary, a second set extends out from her back coloured the same green tone as her hair, and instead of them coming to hands, they extend out like blades. She dresses in a skimpy, black, one piece swimsuit which tightly cling around her shapely breasts and stomach, though exposes her hips fully. Then town her thighs, she wears fishnet stockings down into sharp heels. Lastly, a hefty silver chain wraps around her left arm from her shoulder all the way to her wrist.
6. Malakae Vraelion (Dragon): Wait, what? You know this girl well, but you never expected her to be suddenly competing in something like this, and on the team of Elok Daven. While you're not sure what to make of this yet, you think back to the times you interacted. She was always haughty and arrogant, going as far as to bully Eva like a couple of high school girls. While your bunny denounced her nobility, Malakae embraced it fully. Though the last time you met, all three of you bonded strangely by the end. You even exposed that the two of them share the same... interests, in a manner of speaking. She may be a real bratty-princess-type, but you can't imagine she'd suddenly start serving under Elok, or anyone for that matter. She's a gorgeous, illustrious young woman with golden hair flowing down her back as well as a pair of jewel-decorated horns protruding from the sides of her head. To match, her eyes are vibrant yellow. A set of ruby-encrusted earrings hang from her ears, and she rocks the same sexy qipao dress that she wore when you first met. Lastly, from her lower back comes a gold-scaled tail.
7. The Edge (Human): No. No no no. You tilt back your head and groan, not even wanting to entertain this idea. Standing across the room from you is Mr. Hot Topic himself, still dressed in a black hood over long, dark hair, and hefty leather boots. Around his belt is a series of blades. That's all that needs to be said.

Eva comes in close, gently taking hold of your sleeve as she peers forward. "Is that Malakae?" she asks quietly. "Why is she here?"

"I don't know," you respond. "But--"

"My rival!" comes the booming voice of the legend himself, The Edge. Though he doesn't march over, he stares at you intently. "I told you that we'd meet again!"

You place your hand on your forehead and sigh. "Maybe if I don't look at him, he'll stop talking."

With his arms crossed over his chest, basked in the shadow of his low-hanging hood, he unfortunately continues. "At last, I can finish my tale. Almost like a fable, a story of love and loss, and how I came to be here today... As you know, I am the sole survivor of the massacre that happened to my village long ago. But what you may not have heard, is the ritual of blood that I--"

Just then, Ariusia the praying mantis curls her sharp weapon around the side of his neck and leans in close. "How about you stop shouting next to me, little man?" she says with a terrifying grin across her face. "Or should I punish you again?"

The Edge lowers his head like a sad puppy. "Sorry, Mistress."

"Cool. I hate everything about this already," you say.

Team B

Captain. Lady Vex (Devil): Since you first met this fellow Demon King, who also certainly matches the title's description moreso than the others, you somehow managed to make her your ally. Whether it was having a common foe, simply your character, or how you impressed her during the Trial of the Erotrain, she has become presumably your friend, even if it's difficult to tell through her arrogant and bratty personality. She's the kind of girl who comes to an important meeting but leans back and slams her bare feet onto the table, which you can't help but respect. She's short, like Eva, flat, definitely not like Eva, and has bright red skin. Horns protrude from her forehead, a long spindly tail extends from her lower back and ends with a spaded tip, and she cuts her black hair short in a punkish way--longer bangs parted to the side between her horns, covering one of her golden eyes. Still without shoes, you can see that her toenails and fingernails are all freshly painted black, but she does have some clothing. She wears a sleeveless black tank top with a big white skull stitched onto the front. Below that, dark blue booty shorts. Her fingers are adorned with multipole rings, both silver and gold, some with gems and some without, and she has a simple pair of gold earrings on as well.
1. Masumi (Kitsune): This is no ordinary fox, as you thought when you first saw her transformed, but actually a gorgeous, mature, affectionate yet intimidating woman who shows little emotion behind a warm smile, yet you feel as if a lot more goes on behind that face. Kitsunes have the amazing power to garb anybody with any clothing she desires with the summon of a leaf and the poof of smoke, though you're not certain what else she's capable of doing. Her hair is long and red, and nine fluffy tails extend out from her lower back, each tipped white, which is the same as her pair of ears atop her head. Her gaze is gold, much like Vex, though her figure is certainly the opposite. She has a massive bust, which is barely contained by her loosely-worn crimson kimono trimmed with white and decorated with images of flowers and vines. Like always, she allows it to droop down her shoulders, looking as if it could slip off at any moment, though you know it won't.
2. Kashura Saylinor (Human): Certainly, this is one of the most extra people you've met in Abso, if not the most. She loves to shout, praise her own name, and pose in dramatic ways, though despite the theatrics, she is a rather capable mage. When you first met her, she was working for the high vampire Catherine, who funnily enough now works for you, but it turned out Kashura had always been on the side of Vex. She wears a thin, tight, dark purple, full-body suit made of nylon from her neck to her ankles and wrists, with a few lighter jagged lines to decorate. Over that, she wears a blue crop-top, a matching pair of shorts, pointed shoes, and an oversized witch's hat atop her head. Two necklaces hang from her neck--pendant of a pink cat, and one of a blue moon. She also wears a pair of golden bracelets and a high-collar cloak that billows in a non-existent breeze. Her hair is green, which rolls down past her shoulders, emerald eyes, and is bustier than one might expect from her short stature. On her belt, she always has that black-shaft pink-tip wand.
3. Taffeta (Araneae Insectrin): Spiders aren't insects, but that's fine. Though you haven't known her for long, she seems to be a bit of a trouble-maker, having caught some of your own companions in her webs to tease them. She has purple skin, and her eyes are pure red with no visible pupil or iris, and four additional, tiny eyes appear across her forehead. Her hair is long and black, though she ties it back with a crimson ribbon. Like Ariusia, she has ordinary arms until one looks at her back. Four appendages protrude out, curling around from behind--long, segmented, coming to points. She has a perk bust squeezed by a skin-tight navy blue piece of fabric which starts around her neck and extends down over her chest to stop shortly beneath it. It has no sleeves, but she does wear fingerless gloves which reach up to her forearms. In contrast, her pants are poofy and baggy, though are cut from the top all the way down to her knees, completely exposing her hips and thighs. She wears tabi footwear as well. A spider ninja?
4. Cid (Devil): This cocky gentleman seems to have a lot of interest in flirting, even if it doesn't always go well for him. He has red skin and horns of course, as well as a tail, and he's garbed in a pale purple vest lined with gold buttoned over a white shirt, and he wears matching, dark purple dress pants. He slicks back his short, black hair, and is often seen fixing it self-consciously.
5. Farin (Half-Orc): Not expecting to see him here, this boy was nothing more than an errand-runner back when you were visiting Vex. He seems a bit too young to compete with a lot of the others here, though you suppose Vex has some confidence in him. You reckon he's a little more than just a scribe. His skin is green, has two sharp protruding teeth, short pointed ears, messy yet short dark brown hair, and is armed with a blade hooked to his belt. He wears loose, silken clothes, similar to what you often saw when visiting Niki's homeland, which makes sense given where Vex's base of operations is located, though his are rather fancy--white with pale pink flowers, made from high quality materials.
6. Kiki (Catfolk): Another new girl. She has pale pink hair, nearly white, and hair just long enough to cover the sides of her head. The ears atop her head are a little more straight and pointed than usual, which end tipped with a darker shade of pink, and her eyes are big and bright--a lovely shade of light blue. She wears a frilly white skirt and opened vest, and around her modest bust is a pink tube top. On her feet are pink flats, and around her hands are big, soft, oversized gloves in the shape of white kitty paws with pink toe beans. As she looks joyfully around at the others in the room, her tail sways--also tipped pink like her ears.
7. Kis-sa (Anubian): Yet another new one. While you shouldn't be surprised the Demon King who lives in the Oraang Desert would have a demon known to be found in deserts, you still can't help but be a little shocked to see another like Sen-nu. Her appearance, or rather the appearance of both bodies, resemble Sen-nu in some ways, with their haircuts appearing rather straight and angular, as well as their long wolf-like ears, tails, and the fur that covers from her elbows to the tips of her clawed fingers, and from her knees to the paws of her feet. While much of an Anubian's body appears human, they have the lower legs and arms of a canine. While they also wear golden circlets and chokers as well as many pieces of other jewellery, they are not identical to what Sen-nu wears, which makes sense. Both wear tops which only consist of a collar with two straps leading down the center and spreading out to cover her breasts before reaching around to her back, which exposes a generous amount of underboob, but the golden trim contrasts in a beautiful, almost regal manner. They have skirts to match, and just like Sen-nu, they don't cover much, acting more of an accessory over black and gold panties. Unlike Sen-nu, however, they have mirrored haircuts. One has long, straight hair, with bangs completely covering the left half of her face, while the other body is the same, though with the right.

Team C

Captain: William Cresswell (Human): Despite the fact that he's the only other person you know from Earth, he's still someone you know the least about. He's been having his own adventure entirely, far from you, and has managed to not only collect his own companions, but his base of operations actually flies! Another thing you have in common is that you're both experiments of Elok Daven, but it seems that you both managed to break free and follow your own paths. While you don't know exactly what he knows, he did take the soul from Sa'dis after his defeat. It makes you wonder how he's handled reaching a level-cap, if he has at all. This young man who appears to be roughly around your age has blue eyes which are covered by a pair of glasses. Strangely enough, he's garbed in the exact same outfit--long white coat over a black shirt, black trousers, and hands always stowed away in his pockets, though you know now it's likely to conceal his powerful ring. He has neck-length dark hair with a braid tied down the right side of his head with blue beads. On his hip, there's a scabbard housing a sword.
1. Jika (Harpy): This cold, stoic harpy is rather different to the harpies you know back in Castle Phoenix. It doesn't seem like she's much of a conversationalist. However, with what you know of harpies and their anatomical limitations, she must be close to her companions. You can hardly tell what she looks like beneath the black robe she always wears, and with the hood over her head, but there are raven-black feathers visible from the ends of her sleeves, and her uncovered feet are clearly talons. Her intense yellow gaze is always watching--observing everything around her.
2. Trin (Dragon): Whatever her true power may be, she does possess the ability to summon creatures it seems, including the calling of a giant crab which you fought and defeated in a sort of test. She's short in stature, and looks completely opposite to the dreary bird beside her, instead wearing a short white dress with a belt of pouches around her waist--a flute as well, beautiful, like polished blue marble. She has tall leather boots, a pale blue cloak around her neck, and her silver hair is styled into a bob cut. A set of horns curl up from the sides of her head, and a silver-scaled tail hangs down from the fabric of her cloak. Her bright silver, feline-like eyes are far less intimidating than her companion's, though as a close ally of William, she must be rather strong.
3. Stilet (Elf): From what you heard at that meeting of the Demon Kings, Stilet is an infamous assassin. You don't know much more than that. She has white hair braided back into a small ponytail, and while one of her eyes is blue, the other is covered by a black eyepatch. She wears a dark leather top with a series of belts, and the sleeves reach into a set of matching gloves. Even her forearms have a few belts around them. Though for her bottoms, it isn't much more than a wide loin cloth with lengthy boots from her upper thighs downward--a small strip of skin between. She also has a number of blades on her person.
4. Tavia (Human): Lo and behold, the great and beautiful dungeoneer! You're not sure why that thought came to your mind, but she does seem to emit the aura of a proud adventurer, yet there's something more. While her attractive appearance and natural charisma attracts the eyes, she remains quiet, as if trying to blend into the background of her companions. She has sandy brown hair, thigh-high boots, a low-cut breastplate that's perhaps a little too low-cut, and a black miniskirt. She has a red cape as well, shoulderplates, bracers beneath metal wrist-guards, and a raven ribbon cutely tied through her back-length hair.
5. Ribi (Bunnyfolk): This is the second new girl you've seen on his team. Unlike the few other bunnyfolk you've met, this one has a slightly darker tone to her skin, though you can tell by the tease of whiter flesh around the fringes of her attire that it's a tan. Big, floppy rabbit ears with white tips protrude up from a head of shoulder-length black hair--some of it braided back with ruby beads, and much like William, has a braid down the right side of her head with smaller beads. Her tanned, athletic physique is barely covered by tiny black blouse held over her bouncy bust by three **** buttons--not seeming to care how generous she's being with the cleavage both above and below. A matching pair of booty shorts hug her hips beneath a cotton-ball tail with the top button undone. Otherwise, she doesn't even wear shoes. She does, however, have some sort of symbol tattooed on the skin of her lower stomach and another on her upper left arm.
6. Juggernaut (???): This tall, wide, mass of metal armour has no parts exposed to determine their actual appearance, and having not heard their voice, you can't discern anything else either. They loom in the background like an iron golem with a tower shield strapped to both arms.
7. Storm (???): Yet another mysterious figure, though this one is garbed entirely in a robe. With a hood over their head and a scarf around their neck, you can't make out anything but a flash of red, and by the appearance of their physique, they're more likely male, though you can't be certain. At this point, you're starting to get frustrated that William is using codenames and hiding people's names, as nobody else did so, but you let it go for now.

Team D

Of course, this is your team. It consists of Niki Vakila (Sunheart), Eva Beela (Bunnyfolk), Amara Tedrilui (Elf), Snow (Catfolk), Mistress Dajy (High Succubus), Lalarin Relestel (Bunnyfolk), and Stax (Goblin).

"Crazy party in here," says Stax, gazing up in awe at the many folk taller than she is, though you imagine she's used to that.

Snow nods. "Keep your wits about you, Kyle. And everyone."

"It is a lot to take in," says Amara, lightly caressing her fingertips down her collar. "And on top of that, we have yet to see Mr. Daven. It worries me."

It looks as if many people in the room have similar concerns, if not about Elok Daven, but about one another. Still, the elf Juaela manages to keep everything orderly, and everything is properly registered. During it all, she comes closer to where you stand, and when your eyes meet, she gives you a smiling gesture of acknowledgement. Her lute has been since put away, and in her hands is a clipboard.

"Is everything well?" she asks.

"J--" You stop yourself and nod. "Ms. Juaela, may I ask who you are? As in, do you serve under Elok or something?"

"What an interesting question. Yes, I am a bard, and a proud ally of Mr. Daven."

"So where is he?"

She wiggles her finger. "Nuh uh. Not yet," is all she says before walking off.

What do you do?
