What's next?
Reaching a city
A while into your journey you came across a wood cutter at work. She had three girls around her that you assumed were her daughters. The eldest was gathering the pieces up into baskets while the middle girl looked after the youngest. You noticed that as the woman raised her axe she moved normally but on the down-stroke the axe crackled with blue lightning before moving down at an inhuman speed. Magic!
You look forward to learning it yourself but is it unusual to not know it already? Nobody would believe the story of how you got here. You suppose there has to be someone who will teach you nearby or else you wouldn't have been sent here.
Some time later you arrived at a city surrounded by farmland. Two guards gave you a stern look as you walked through the gate but didn't say anything. The city within looked like a cross between what you remember the trade quarter of Vizima in The Witcher and The Lord of the Rings' Rivendell. Generally similar to medieval architecture but with curved roofs and trees incorporated wherever possible.
With no proper intro quest you suppose the best thing to do is find an inn to stay at and ask some questions there. You only had to walk a couple of blocks to find such an establishment called "The Lillie's' Lofts" with a vacancy sign in the window. Inside the owner (slightly chubby, purple haired and as close to matronly as an elf could come) was taking the lack of customers between lunch and dinner as an opportunity to polish her silverware. Seeing you standing in the door way she offered you a warm smile.
You hesitate for a moment. This will be your first conversation in this new world, will you sound natural? You step forward awkwardly and ask how much it would be to get a meal and stay the night. "Ten coppers" she tells you. You think you had that much in your purse and then realise you need to learn the exchange rates. You pulled out a silver and asked if it was enough. She laughed as she counted through a safe box. "Fifteen coppers change dear."
The owner looked you up and down. "You look like you've had a long day. The wash room is just through there", she pointed to a door opposite where you came in, "go clean yourself up while I rustle some food up for you."
The "wash room" turned out to be the clinching proof that you were in a world based on anime. It looked like someone designed a generic bathroom, took the rest of week off until ten minutes from the deadline, remembering to change some details to make it look like medieval Europe instead of modern Japan. One wall had a shelf with a towel, sponge, pots of homemade shampoo and soap and a bucket and stool waiting for you. To your right was a window made of frosted glass and a bronze bath tub with just a hint of steam rising from it and to your left a full-height mirror. Curiously though there weren't any taps.
You quickly put your rucksack and staff on the shelf to stay dry and started removing your clothes. You were so glad at the opportunity to wash away the sweat and dust of travelling that you forgot what body you were in until you got your dress right off.
What do you look like?
